Kim Harrison's series is the best. I agree it is preferable to have the same narrators for series books but disagree with other reviewers who bash this narrator. Don't let reviewers rating of the narrator deter you from buying this great book!I think she does an okay job and enjoyed the book no less due to her performance.
Overall in this series, my favorite character is the tough, mouthy pixie named Jenks. I think he and his huge family add a lot to the story. It's fun to imagine what a house full of noisy, tiny pixies would be like.
If you like scary books that will give you nightmares, this is the book for you. It is about vampires, but not the romancing kind. These vampires also have many zombie characteristics, running amok in groups, savaging people, and no speech. I couldn't put it down and listened to all of it in two days. Ron Perlman does an excellent job narrating. It is the first book in a trilogy so more to come. A great book and I can hardly wait for the next one!
I loved this book and the narrator. I thought Jenks, the wise-cracking pixie sidekick was hilarious. The dynamics between Rachael and Ivy were fun. There is never a dull moment. I don't usually buy this genre but now am hooked. As soon as I finished this, I bought the rest of the series and hope Ms. Harrison keeps writing more!
What an incredible story! The tension is so terrifying I had to stop and take a break a couple of times. The ending is clever and surprising. I loved this book.
This story was more about the daily lives of a Mormon family than anything else. It was fairly interesting and informative for that purpose alone but not very good otherwise. I was anticipating a great suspense story but it was sort of mundane and disappointing. OSC is a great writer but this book is off the target.
This isn't the first time I've listened to an author narrate their book and I've only liked one - Frank McCourt. Mr. Gaiman ruined the story for me with his high nasal voice. I wasn't able to finish it and I've tried twice. My mind just wanders. There are so many unanswered questions that it makes little sense, which seems like the writer is too lazy to bother.
I don't usually buy books until I've read reviews and a lot of folks loved this story but I'm not one of them.
I bought this book because I so enjoy the narrator (now sadly gone) but was pleasantly surprised by the author and her great story. I learned a lot about genetically modifying food crops. The characters were appealing and funny. The story was fun and the author kept a good pace. I highly recommend this book.
I didn't finish listening to this boring book, only about half. Characters and their backgrounds were still being introduced and they weren't very interesting or compelling. I'm a huge Binchy fan. Sadly this is no Tara Road or Circle of Friends. Maybe next time.
