"A good reading of a masterpiece"
This is one of my favorite books, I love the characters and the story is so sad and wonderful at the same time. It is well-read and I recommend it for repeat readers of Anna Karenina or first-timers. It is well worth the time investment.
"Just OK"
I don't know what a younger audience would think of this book but I found it kind of boring. I didn't really finish the last hour or so, I couldn't focus on it for too long at a time and found myself drifting off so I finally stopped trying.
"Fabulous, Incredibly Moving"
First of all, if you haven't read Plainsong, start there. It is a wonderful wonderful prelude to Eventide. Both books are lovely, moving stories. The author has a very spare style that is really wonderful. I LOVE both of these books and they are both highly recommended.
"Nice Dragon story for young ones"
This is a good book for young adults but I wouldn't recommend that adults spend their time listening. Not a horrible story but just not that interesting for a more mature audience.
"An OK story but not too exciting"
I thought this was an OK book but I couldn't really focus on it, it kept putting me to sleep. There was something very lyrical about the language and the narration that I enjoyed.
"Get ready to laugh!"
This is just hilarious, so listen and laugh.
"Wow"
I was really interested in this book but knew that I would never be able to read the whole thing on my own so I opted for an abriged, audio version and I said "wow" in my title because I really surprised myself by loving it! It is a great biography, very interesting and absorbing. I learned all kinds of things about John Adams and that period of our history that I didn't know (but probably should have known) and I am very very glad that I listened. Highly recommended.
"TERRIBLE"
This book is a serious contendor for the worst book I have ever been exposed to in my life. It is AWFUL.
"A good story"
I thought that this was a really good story and I really enjoyed the performances of all of the readers. I really loved the boy and thought he was a great character. I didn't really like the extra, side stories about the grandparents' lives before he was born, I didn't really see what that contributed to the rest of the book. I heard an interview with the author on NPR that I really enjoyed and in the interview they said that the book has all kinds of pictures and stuff so maybe reading it would be a more rewarding experience, I don't know.
"Pretty good story"
I think that the story was pretty good and it was pretty well-written. I did enjoy listening to the book and getting to know Alanna and I think that it would probably be a good series for girls to get into. I do not plan on listening to any more in the series but I can easily imagine that there are people out there who would get really into these books. Worth a listen.
"Enchanting!"
I LOVED this book! I would stay up late and listen and listen. I found it completely enchanting and absorbing. The characters are sweet and sympathetic and the story is just lovely. I highly recommend this book, you will love it!
