Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy, small-time casino, the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind. That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly, Daniel’s got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops, and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him, and he still doesn't know what's going on.

I really wanted to like this book but it just felt awkward. I enjoy Eoin Colfer's teen books, good family fun. Witty and clever full of action and adventure. This book felt like a teen book with A LOT of the F word and using Jesus Christ as a swear word along with a few sexual situations(nothing graphic) as if these things make a book for adults. Still, it made me chuckle here and there. I'm still a fan but I'll probably just stick to the family books to listen to on long trips.

I just love the world Louise Penny has created in Three Pines, wonderful, complex mystery but the rich characters and her sly wit have me wishing I could live in a place like this... if it wasn't for all the murders.

And sometimes I'll start a book or listen to one I have again just to hear Ralph Cosham's wonderful calming voice.

I've loved Peretti's work for years, original ideas, engaging mysteries, with logic reasoned out to a strong finish. I recommend his work to anyone that loves to read and think beyond the storyline. He is a Christian author and one of the reasons I started reading his work but I strongly recommend this book for science fiction lovers! You won’t be pounded by his Faith but you will get a feel for his depth of character. The science this story takes a person on is a roller coaster for sure :)

This was the first time I listened to a book read by the author, it was such fun to feel the story and excitement knowing that it was truely the way he would have wanted it.

Five days after Owen Zastava Pitt pushed his insufferable boss out of a 14th story window, he woke up in the hospital with a scarred face, an unbelievable memory, and a job offer. It turns out that monsters are real. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. Some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. And now Owen is their newest recruit.

Great adventure and lots of laughs! Nice blend of syfy and fantasy. I don't know anything about guns but the explanations were just right, enough info to give understanding of how each weapon would impact the target, helped to understand strength and weakness and when would be needed.

I respectfully disagree with those that thought this had a right wing political agenda. My opinion is that to create a setting in which monsters are real the author had to use the "conspiracy" angle, it’s just fun fiction.

I also saw a review or two that commented on lack of character development but I'm a reader that prefers to fill in blank spaces with my own imagination. I thought each character was fun and developed in a way that gave me room to fill in any blanks.

I can’t wait to get started on the next book! What a great read when you just want to get away from reality!

I was curious about the author and did a quick google, if I understand right he self published this originally and later got picked up by a publishing house. I love that he chased his dream and took a risk that paid off for him. Kudos!!

Chief Inspector Armand Gamache has come to Winter Carnival - not to join the revels but to recover from an investigation gone hauntingly wrong. But violent death is inescapable, even in the apparent sanctuary of the Literary and Historical Society - where an obsessive historian’s quest for the remains of the founder of Quebec, Samuel de Champlain, ends in murder. Could a secret buried with Champlain for nearly 400 years be so dreadful that someone would kill to protect it?

I found this book looking for Ralph Cosham work, read the reviews and gave it a chance. Loved it. It felt complete to me, rich characters, plots and sub plots, depth, wonderful symbolism that could be overlooked but for those who can read between the lines there are little treasures everywhere. I also appreciated the range of different characters and I have a new interest in Canada. :) No doubt, I will be listening to more of Louise Penny.

Yasuko Hanaoka is a divorced, single mother who thought she had finally escaped her abusive ex-husband Togashi. When he shows up one day to extort money from her, threatening both her and her teenaged daughter Misato, the situation quickly escalates into violence and Togashi ends up dead on her apartment floor.

This was a good book. There is quite a bit of depth that a person might miss, it will appeal to people that like to ponder things. As the end wraps up it brings questions to mind about how each persons choices effects another.
