"Amazing!"
This book had my attention from Page 1 and there was never a moment after that that things slowed down or bored me. This is an epic novel about the true meaning of family and how it transcends the conventional definition. This is a "must-read" book! The narrators are excellent.
"Amazing"
Th narrator is excellent, and the book is truly amazing. What a wonderful cast of characters and plot. This book goes into my list of the top 20 books I have ever read.
"Boring"
I just couldn't finish this book. It was so tedious. I do not recommend it except as a sleep aid.
"Definitely NOT uplifting"
Well ... I didn't expect this book to be uplifting, and it wasn't. It was also exceptionally slow. Nevertheless, it's a story that needed to be told, and I am glad I listened to it. However, the narrator can enhance the book or make it torture to listen to. In this case, one of the several narrators was excruciating to listen to. The narrator who reads the story of one of the boys, Benson, has a whining nasal drawl while at the same time sounding as though he has a mouthful of marbles. Truly insufferable after the first hour or so.
"Terrible Narrator"
Honestly, I got to Chapter 7 of this book and just couldn't tolerate the narrator's voice any more. She attempts to use different voices and accents for different characters, and most of them are poorly done. However, even more annoying than that is her own voice for the narration of the story which had my teeth constantly on edge. As a result, I don't think I gave the book itself a fair chance. It just wasn't worth my sanity to try to go any further.
"Not a Good Narrator"
Well, it's Gone With the Wind, so how can you go wrong. Well, this is how: have it read by a narrator whose intonation is "off." I love the book, but the narrator just spoiled it for me. Surely they could have chosen someone more competent.
"Fascinating"
This book is unlike anything else I have ever read. It is plot-driven, and very complex. I definitely recommend it.
