This audio book is meant to be read as a supplement to the book Sacred Contracts. It contains a lot of exercises involving archetypal patterns. In it, Myss attempts to help you understand what 12 archetypes you engage with in your life. In the audiobook, however, she really glosses over descriptions of archetypes. She refers you to her hardcopy book instead. If you've listened to The Language of Archetypes then you should have plenty of base to get a lot out of this book. If you've never listened to or read anything by Myss, I wouldn't recommend this one to start.

Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be. We are led to believe that if we could only look perfect and lead perfect lives, we'd no longer feel inadequate. So most of us perform, please, and perfect, all the while thinking, What if I can't keep all of these balls in the air? Why isn't everyone else working harder and living up to my expectations? What will people think if I fail or give up? When can I stop proving myself?

This book is amazing, except it is the exact same content as the power of vulnerability, which is narrated by Berne Brown herself. The work just seems much deeper and the stories a lot richer when you hear it from the author directly. When I say they're the same I really mean it. Same stories, same content, same organization.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Brene Brown is amazing. She has incredible insights into American culture and where we fall flat in terms of understanding what truly matters. I love her authenticity and her willingness to share her own stories, which always made me laugh. She's incredibly funny without meaning to be. I highly recommend this book!

Many of us wear a mask that covers not our faces but our souls, hiding the authenticity we yearn to express. But how do we remove these masks and step into our full creative power? On Your Creative Soul, Caroline Myss and Sandra Joseph, the author and actress best known for her role as Christine in Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera, investigate the profound relationship between our spirituality and our creative lives - and why it's essential for each of us to honor the impulses of the soul.

    Story

I found this audiobook really disjointed. I'm a big fan of Carolyn Myss and I find her other works really powerful and insightful. Unfortunately in this one, I found her sections really angry and harsh. She spends a lot of time saying how we revel in our wounds instead of getting ourselves to do serious work. Most of the time I find her style to be very honest and straight up, but this time I found several of her sections incredibly uncompassionate. Sandra Joseph's sections were much lighter. They focused more on her personal journey, which was interesting. I was a little annoyed that she sang a broadway song after each of her sections. It just felt really out of place to me. I think either of the authors could have made a fine audiobook about this subject on their own. The truth is they don't really seem to go together and the whole book just felt like it was jumping back and forth without any connectivity.

In this live lecture, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explores intention as an all-pervading force in the universe that allows the act of creation to take place. Intention, he explains, is not something you do, but an energy you're a part of. Not only do you emanate from the field of intention, but if you align yourself to it, your desires become fulfilled and you find yourself at peace.

Irreverent, charming, and eminently quotable, this handbook - an eccentric etiquette guide for the human race - contains 69 aphorisms, anecdotes, whimsical suggestions, maxims, and cautionary tales from Mark Twain’s private and published writings. It dispenses advice and reflections on family life and public manners; opinions on topics such as dress, health, food, and childrearing and safety; and more specialized tips, such as those for dealing with annoying salesmen and burglars.

Deepak Chopra, Debbie Ford, and Marianne Williamson - New York Times best-selling authors and internationally acclaimed teachers - have joined together to share their knowledge on one of the most crucial obstacles to happiness we face: the shadow. These three luminaries, each with a signature approach, bring to light the parts of ourselves we deny but that still direct our life.

I love all three of these authors, and I enjoyed all three parts of the book. But at times, the authors conflict each other and it makes it hard to take what they're saying really on board. It's still definitely worth listening too. Each of the authors have valid and important points. I got something from every single section. I just wish that the messages of the meaning and purpose of the darker sides of ourselves, our so called "shadows", weren't so conflicting.

In this new work, Myss covers 10 primary archetypes: Caregiver, Artist, Fashionista, Intellectual, Rebel, Queen/Executive, Advocate, Visionary, Athlete, and Spiritual Seeker. She helps us determine which archetypes best define us as individuals, laying out each archetype’s unique path, strengths, and weaknesses. By identifying our personal archetypes, we gain the knowledge necessary to live an authentic life that reflects who we really are.

This book is just a rehash of Caroline's older work in archetypes. It's nice, but there's nothing new in this book and it's not even that detailed. If you really want to delve into all the archetypes you should get the Language of Archetypes. It's much more detailed in its descriptions and it covers all the bases. And if you're interested in how to use archetypes to help you find your path in life, you should go for Sacred Contracts rather than this book.

Anyone who struggles with their weight should buy it. It will radically change your perspective of your body and finally show you how to shed the unwanted weight.

What did Charles Darwin, middling schoolboy and underachieving second son, do to become one of the earliest and greatest naturalists the world has known? What were the similar choices made by Mozart and by Caesar Rodriguez, the U.S. Air Force's last ace fighter pilot? In Mastery, Robert Greene's fifth book, he mines the biographies of great historical figures for clues about gaining control over our own lives and destinies. Picking up where The 48 Laws of Power left off, Greene culls years of research and original interviews to blend historical anecdote and psychological insight, distilling the universal ingredients of the world's masters.

This book is aligned with the idea that mastery of any subject or art takes time, not talent. The author gives numerous examples of people who put in the effort to become masters. He also provides some useful information about the pitfalls that occur on the road to mastery. I enjoyed it, but was a little annoyed that all the stories are repeated about 3 times each over the course of the audiobook.
