The Return of the King is the towering climax to J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy that tells the saga of the hobbits of Middle-earth and the great War of the Rings. In this concluding volume, Frodo and Sam make a terrible journey to the heart of the Land of the Shadow in a final reckoning with the power of Sauron. In addition to narrating the prose passages, Rob Inglis sings the trilogy’s songs and poems a capella, using melodies composed by Inglis and Claudia Howard, the Recorded Books studio director.

Rob Inglis narration of this beautiful series ,with it's richly imagined characters and places ,the poetry, the songs, left me wishing for more. If you have only seen the movies this series is a must read,or in this case even better ,narrated with such skill the story becomes even more vivid.

The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers.

Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.

Together again in the house they grew up in, the Waverley sisters realize they must deal with their common legacy - if they are ever to feel at home in Bascom - or with each other.

Took a chance on a new author, how did I miss this one! This quirky little southern town with it's richly developed characters enchants you in every way. The narration of Susan Erickson draws you into this place of whimsical magic,so hauntingly portrayed by the author, that the people and place become real. I will be reading more books from the talented pen of Susan Addison Allen , and am looking forward to the forthcoming book in this setting. I hope there will also be an audible version too.

THE STALLION: Equally spoiled, equally reckless, and bound until death to a bitter servitude. THE TURK'S HEIR: Fiercest of rivals, most devoted of enemies, whose armor hides a secret. Come into the world of the Arabian Nights, where magic and mystery meet; where justice lays a sinner low, and the magic of the heart turns hate to love.

I have had this in my library of paperback books ,and have read it with pleasure many times. This story of a selfish, spoiled prince who is taught a hard lesson about compassion and humility. Along the way you laugh , cry, revel in the revenge he receives , and experience his slowly dawning wisdom. Magic and adventure in a fast paced story.

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken. A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss. Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside.

Narration was an improvement over the first book in the series, and was not as distracting as the first book was. The first book in the series was too high key, but this was too low key. I always enjoy Nora Roberts ability to take you into the settings and characters in her books.

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

With the victim fighting for his life, the entire squad and the local FBI office are hell-bent on catching the gunman. Bernie, too, wants in on the investigation, despite regulations forbidding eyewitness involvement. But that doesn't mean she's going to sit idly by, especially when her husband, Sergeant Jim Chee, is in charge of finding the shooter. Bernie and Chee discover that a cold case involving his former boss and partner, retired Inspector Joe Leaphorn, may hold the key.

It is rare to have an author continue another authors series , and capture the characters and feel of place and time with such perfection. But to do it and add her own flavor to the story is a miracle. I have been to the four corners area many times, the descriptions of the land ,the sounds, took me there again. I hope there will be another book soon! What a lovely book filled with a deeper look at the complex feelings of all my favorite people in the Chee and Leaphorn series. The performance by Christina Delaine caught all the flavor of the players in a moving and sometimes intense story.
