"Warning: Addictive listening ahead!"
I confess. I listened to this book in a day and then I started over, listened again and then I bought the other one in the series and I listened to it. This book is like a visit to India. In addition to being funny with an engaging plot, Tarquin Hall does an amazing job of creating atmosphere. His lively descriptions of the sights and sounds and tastes and daily life in India bring the book to life. The narrator also gets five stars with his warm voice and beautiful accent. My next challenge will be to find an Indian restaurant in Boise Idaho! If I had a complaint, other than that I don't have the funds to hop on a plane to India, it would be that there are only two books in this series. However the next is due out July 1!
"Kitty Comes Back Strong"
Truth be told, I had given up on Kitty.Spending several hours with her sitting in a cabin in the woods while complaining about writers block and her new late night talk show rival didn't do much for me. But, despite what others have said, I like this book a lot. There is the humor of a Las Vegas wedding and plenty of new mysterious characters. Does that magician really make people disappear in his spooky box? Are those Bengal tigers in the animal show what they seem to be? Who is more scary-- the head vampire of Las Vegas or those people attending the gun show at Kitty's hotel? This book held my interest from start to finish.
"Very Funny"
Imagine Agatha Christie poking fun at Ian Fleming. The plot of this book is equal to the most absurd of the James Bond antics. As a matter of fact, in this book no one is safe from Christie's witty observation. She pokes fun at young people, rich people, aristocrats and gardeners. If you are ready to let go of the demand for realism and have a good laugh, this is the book for you!
"Agatha Christie at her Creepy Best"
Within the long lexicon of Christie novels there is quite a range: from outright funny to genuinely frightful. This is a dark story. It held my attention and ended with a shock. After I had finished, it stayed with me as I pondered the human heart and how things could have been so different. Though this book is in no way gory, neither is it cozy. It is well worth the listen, but you may want to confine it to the light of day!
