In Dirty Girls on Top, the Sucias are five years older, five times as much fun - but, sad to say, maybe not five times wiser. Lauren is at the top of her game as a columnist for the Boston Herald but still hasn't figured out how to pick a guy - or how to eat (and not eat) like a healthy person.

Elena says: "Great Book, uncomfortable accent"
    "Another Great Job!"
    Overall

Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez does a great job of letting the reader (or listener) have fun while also making you think. I love her books and this one did not disappoint!

Nonny Frett understands the meanings of "rock" and "hard place" better than any woman ever born. She's got two mothers, "one deaf-blind and the other four baby steps from flat crazy". She's got two men: her husband, who's easing out the back door; and her best friend, who's laying siege to her heart in her front yard. She has a job that holds her in the city, and she's addicted to a little girl who's stuck deep in the country.

    Karen says: "Great listen!"
    "One of my favorites"
    Overall

I love the complex characters that Joshilyn Jackson brought to life. They were very relateable and went beyond the surface layer you tend to see with "Chick Lit". This is NOT "Chick Lit".

This is a wonderful book and I look forward to reading more of Jackson's work.

While Laurel Gray Hawthorne's life seems neatly on track - a passionate marriage, a treasured daughter, and a lovely home in suburban Victorianna - everything she holds dear is suddenly thrown into question the night she is visited by the ghost of a her 13-year old neighbor, Molly Dufresne.

    J. E. JONES says: "One of the Best books I've purchased"
    "Highly Recommend!"
    Overall

I fell in love with Joshilyn Jackson's writing after reading Gods in Alabama. I was worried about this one because I was afraid of being let down. No worries there! This is a great book. I look forward to reading more of her writing and love that she narrated this one and Between Georgia. I think she is the only one who could have brought her characters to life so perfectly.

When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops - the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth.

    Elaine says: "Excellent Book"
    "Very Good!"
    Overall

I love Lisa Scottoline, but when I saw this one wasn't about lawyers (more importantly, not about Rosato & Associates *sniff, sniff*), I almost didn't purchase it. Since it has been so long since I have listened to one of her books, I bit the bullet and got this one.

I'm really glad I did. It is a slightly differnt path than she normally goes down, but I would have to say this was probably my favorite of all of her books - although I still want Rosato & Associates to come back soon!

Sofie's getting her feet under her as a PI and business is booming. So much so that she's hired her layabout cousin and a one-time petty criminal as "boys of all work". Okay, so her reputation's become, well, complicated - everyone in Astoria, Queens, knows that from time to time she shoots one of her own clients - but on the whole, she's getting a lot more respect than when she was best known for leaving her groom at the altar.

I love the Sofie Metropolis series, I really do, but this one was just kind of "eh". I think the narrator used on the previous books did such a great job (especially with the accents) but this one was not very good. Everytime she tried to read Rosie, I cringed -- instead of getting the plucky Puerto Rican's personality, we got something like a Russian/Oriental-esque accent. Don't even get me started on Jake. UGH. Please bring back the original narrator and continue to write these fun books. They are very entertaining, and I want to "see" what happens to Sofie, sans Allyson Ryan.

Thea Luckmore believes in love, the magic spark of true, old-fashioned, romantic love. She's determined only to fall head over heels, or rather, heart over head. Alice Heggarty, her best friend, is always falling in lust, with dashing rogues who invariably break her heart. As yet another disastrous relationship ends, Alice makes a decision. It's time to marry and she knows just the man.

I listen to a ton of audiobooks -- but this one will forever rate at the bottom of my list. Do not waste your time, money, credits, or braincells on this one. I was stuck on a 6 hour car trip that seemed like 18 hours while listening to this book. HORRIBLE.

Sara never doubted her husband, the successful, handsome Matt. Then his best friend blurts out the horrible truth - that he has a bright young girlfriend to match his glittering career. Unable to bear the pain and humiliation, Sara decides to get away - to Cornwall, where in a dilapidated cottage by the sea she hopes to find...healing? Or a new life?

Very painful...not because of the content but because of how slow it is to get moving. By the time things got interesting, the book was over and you were left thinking "Huh...well ok."
