An explosive apocalyptic conspiracy thriller from a major new British talent that will set the world alight…REVELATION OR DEVASTATION?The certainties of the modern world are about to be blown apart by a three thousand year-old conspiracy nurtured by blood and lies …A man throws himself to his death from the oldest inhabited place on the face of the earth, a mountainous citadel in the historic Turkish city of Ruin. This is no ordinary suicide but a symbolic act.

Madeleine says: "So Much Better than the DaVinci Code!"
    "Couldn't be better!"

What a read! Hard to believe this is a debut novel - it is a sophisticated work from a very clever intellect!
    Well worth the effort.

    "Also Reported Incomplete Book"

Six or so weeks ago I also complained to Audible that I had wasted a credit on this book - the credit was refunded and the complaint was referred within to the Audio Department. Still nothing has been done - and the incomplete book remains available for purchase - Unbelievable!!!!
This is otherwise a great book!

The sweltering summer of 1911. Half the country is on strike; the other half seems to be in flames. And in his most perplexing case to date, railway detective Jim Stringer has 48 hours to solve a murder not yet committed. One Friday evening, a special train rolls into York station. It carries a young aristocrat lately found guilty of murdering his father. Briefly entrusted into Jim's custody, he warns of yet another murder about to happen...Jim and his strong-willed wife take the train along the near-deserted branch line.

"If you can't say something nice..!"

One of my family's traditions is adherence to an old saying: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." In keeping with my family's tradition I have nothing to say about this listen.

  • A Morbid Taste for Bones

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Ellis Peters
    • Narrated By Stephen Thorne

In the 12th-century Benedictine monastery of Shrewsbury, Brother Cadfael has settled down to a quiet life in charge of the herbarium after an adventurous, and far from monastic, youth. But when his prior determines to acquire the bones of a saint from a remote Welsh village, Cadfael's worldly experience becomes vitally important. It is fortunate indeed that his skills as a herbalist are matched by his prowess as a detective, since the obstacles to the expedition include murder.

    Erin says: "Classic Mystery"
    "Difficult to Beat!"

This is a first class murder/mystery - but the most appealing aspect of this work is the author's ability to immerse the reader in the story itself - the characters, the time period and the setting. Character development is enthralling and the subtle adduction of fact keeps the story moving, and above all else, human. The audio isn't perfect but Stephen Thorne more than makes up for that. Don't miss this one!
