Who has not heard of Al Capone and Elliot Ness, sometimes to excess but the views presented by this author make this one hard to stop listening to? The book gets right into his nefarious past and at times actually has you feeling almost sorry for him. A brutal criminal that if it were not for the IRS he could have written a book on how to be a professional criminal and get away with a plethora of crimes.I wish the IRS had as many imaginative techniques to nail all the drug dealers running lose.

Enjoyable read but when I heard some of the technical and research errors I had to cringe, e.g. the Dolittle raid was off the Hornet not the Enterprise, 42 knots is no where near 65 miles per hour, et al, if you don't get hung up on details and love history you'll enjoy this book.

One third sheer excitement, two thirds padding so it did not have to be listed as a Novella. If you do get it do not give up on it before the middle where all the action takes place.

Finally, a book that goes in-depth into one of the most important operations of WW II that probably saved over 100,000 lives. Regrettably the British had to keep this secret along with things like the Enigma for over 50 years while egomaniacs like Montgomery and his Army of spin doctors gave the British people the impression he won the war single handedly.

The British developed brilliant pieces of technical equipment, broke unbreakable codes, designed the Merlin engine that took us to Germany and developed unbelievably complex operations that we are just now hearing about.

This is just one of them that I doubt 1 in 100 Americans have even heard about

As hard as I tried I could not remember the name of every Cabinet Minister, Lord, Baron, et al plus every battleship and minelayer involved in this fiasco.

Churchill will lose a notch or two on your admiration scale after you read about the long term consequences of his overly daring, ill-conceived, disastrous plan.

Churchill has been credited with coining the phrase An Iron Curtain has descended across Europe after WW II ended. Churchills campaign as Lord of the Admiralty during WW I contributed significantly to the rise of Communism as the Russians had to cede massive amounts of land to Germany for peace, giving the Red army a free hand to destroy the White army allowing communism to thrive.

If you do get this book DO NOT miss the epilogue, it is an eye opener.

Started off interesting enough, filled with those personal little items we like to hear about our heros. Then little by little the book transitioned into a composite of laborious articles that could be summarized off the N.Y. Times micro-fiche archives, to ensure that you have been completely mired in an inescapable world of boredom. The author then brings out his 60+ year collection of baseball almanacs gleaning out every statistic pertaining to a generation of catchers that ever played the game of baseball.

Being a masochist, I forged on; it just kills me to flush a good hard earned credit down the toilet.

The author is correct; Yogi BERRA is one of Americas most quoted and fascinating sports figures, I doubt if Allen BARRA will become one of Americas most published authors. Pitifully lacking in personal information, jam packed with publically available information juxtaposed with Yogis last name and the authors leaves me with a stomach full of skepticism regarding this book.

Either I have been scammed or the publisher should be looking for a new editor.

Nancy: This is one of a very few books I haven't been able to finish, and I've read and listened to a great many books.

Daniel T: I have perhaps listened to over 100 books over the years and have never failed to finish one. This one was so bad, so poorly written that try as I might, I couldn't get through more than about 20% of it. Yuck!

Jack: Difficult to follow and seemingly disjointed. I never finished the first segment. Given that life is finite, I urge you to spend your time wisely; don't buy it.

I only wish I took the time to read their comments before I bought this stinker. I have over 1,500 Audible books and this one is in a class by itself, only the 2nd one I have bailed on, a real nonsensical stinker, save your credit
