    • By Suzanne Collins
    • Narrated By Carolyn McCormick

Like a child or a family member i was so emotionally invested in this trilogy, i have to love it, regardless of how disappointed i may be deep down. as a SUPER harry potter fan, it has been hard to find anything that could fill the void, the hunger games did that, and then some... I feel like fans could have created a better 3rd book, and in a perfect world we could all just give susan collins a redo! i mean everybody messes up right? i am not so much disappointed in the ending as i am in the story leading up to the ending... it felt like the first chapter all the way through and then WHAM its over.... all of that being said, i enjoyed this trilogy more than words can describe! The characters feel like friends and the story is so unique and moving and thought-provoking, regardless of the lackluster final book, this will be a favorite of mine for all time!!!

    "an old favorite!"

This was the first fantasy book i have ever read... that being said, i may be slightly biased because the first time you enter the world of fantasy your life is changed forever! However i just finished listening to this book again as an adult and it was just as great as i remember... sometimes i would stop and laugh at myself for reading about talking wolves, but that goes along with the fantasy genre i guess. I love the characters in this book, and i also love the daringness of Clement-Davies to "go there"... this is not a cookie cutter everyone lives happily ever after read... far from it! If you are looking for something different then give it a try! its an easy read, and you won't regret it!

  • The Amulet of Samarkand: The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Jonathan Stroud
    • Narrated By Simon Jones
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Nathaniel is eleven-years-old and a magician's apprentice, learning the traditional art of magic. All is well until he has a life-changing encounter with Simon Lovelace, a magician of unrivaled ruthlessness and ambition. When Lovelace brutally humiliates Nathaniel in public, Nathaniel decides to speed up his education, teaching himself spells far beyond his years. With revenge on his mind, he masters one of the toughest spells of all and summons Bartimaeus, a five-thousand-year-old djinni, to assist him.

    "give me more!"

almost there but not quite... great setup, great ideas, just not the sparkle that i needed... that extra something that makes it special and different from the countless other magician books... Bartimaeus is hysterical though, yet that adds more disappointment when i think about the potential lost with a lackluster story. i will finish the series, but am not in a hurry, which as an obsessive reader, says a lot! I am crossing my fingers that the story gets better as the books progress but am not holding my breath.
