I enjoyed the book but was hoping for something more. I've enjoyed her pieces on This American Life. This is really just a collection of stories that will cause you to chuckle or smile. By the fifth hour, I was ready for it to be over.
I wasn't familiar with this author so didn't know what to expect. The pace and plot development were excellent - gripping almost from the beginning and through the last chapter. I found myself listing to the book outside of the drive time and in the end, every chance possible in order to see how the story would develop.
Very interesting insight into Lincoln from the perspective of his rivals. Both from what they wrote and from Lincoln's writing and actions in engaging them in his cabinent. A very interesting approach to gain a better understanding of mind of this great President.
I'm just about finished with the book and have switched from listening during my drive to wanting to listen during any free moments. Well paced and insightful in understanding how this grand fraud was orchestrated and perpetuated.
I didn't know what to expect from this book. I downloaded based on the ratings and buzz. What a pleasure! I found myself on vacation and just wanting to sit in the sun and listen to this story unfold. The author's narration was very good and makes this even more effective than the printed book. However, I did buy the print copy after completing the audio book to give to my wife and son.
