"Outstanding!"
Although the audio quality is a bit dated, this is the best reading of this classic I have come across.Anne flosnik nails the characters sooo well. I highly recommend this audiobook.
"finaly,frederick davidsons monopoly shattered."
for the past 30 years since audiobooks became popular, this trully GREAT novel has had one and only one unabridged reading available, that of fredrick davidsons terrible narration. His reading was sooooo bad I could only listen to abridged readings and that is enouph to make a lover of this book weep[or screem].finaly, here is a great novel read by a great reader translated by a great translater...all the gods are alighned with this audiobook..YOU WILL LOVE ALL 60+ hours OF IT.....if i were stranded on a diserted island with only one audiobook[ loaded in my atomic powered ipod],it would be this .ENJOY
"a simply wonderful listen..."
This is trully such a great listen on almost all levels. Its emotional, intellectualy satisfying, historicly wonderous,spiritual.ect.ect...Also I strongly disagree with the reviews trashing the narrator.I found him wonderful and even hunted for other books he's read...this realy is a great audiobook...enjoy.
"NICE BOOK!!!"
Quite simply this is a great treatment of Tolkiens moral and world view as seen in his works.nicely read to boot....all Christians can trust this treatment and all non Christians will still love its mellow wisdom...enjoy
"Good but badly titled book."
The previous review gave me pause of getting this book but I chose to try it.This is my overview.I am in sympathy with his strong words about the very true fact that this writer is dealing with war and torture and again and again returning to it.I, who am as shell shocked from the left in our culture as the next person, felt a very strong desire to stop this book when in the 2 chapter WATERBORDING came up.However,I realize that is about our media .So I continued listening.I quickly realized the writer is NOT left.nor right.NOT A PACIFIST.What he does is open up and detail Tolkiens Catholic views of morality and position on war and treatment of each other within and revield through The Lord of The rings.[without any admitting the Christian origin]...In fact this book is not about war at all but MORALITY.I do not think the author even knows Its actualy Catholic social doctrine.. If he does he almost seems to hide this fact,,I dont know him or his motives and like his book so i leave that to him..Tolkien was a devout Catholic so his moral wisdom would permiate his books.....anyway,if you are interested in a very good treatment of Tolkien and the Moral wisdom of his great works,I think you will like this treatment..but I do have to say ..'boy was this a terribly TITLED book';....

"very nice treatment of happiness."
being there is a wash of books on seeking happiness and a large portion of those new age trash, to find one authentic and wise is a treat. This book seems to me a real treat.I agree greatly with all but one chapter in this book. That chapter is on unconditional love with God,yet even this mr.Prager handles as his opinion only based on his Jewish possition.I highly respect this even though I do not experience the Love of God as non-unconditional as he does. yet his opinion does contains wisdom gems within it,for I agree that the idea of unconditional love is often used and abused out of context .I very much like this author and thinker. He goes straight to first principles again and again.I beleive you will like this book and if by its teaching your a little more happy, isnt that worth a credit..hope you enjoy...
"first class treatment of the liberal left."
All in our nation who struggle to understand the obvious fall of our culture and try to understand the mindset and attitudes of those who are 'remaking it'.will know the sea of books on this subject.though there are many good ones, most do not reach to the first principles needed to understand an attitude and philosophy that is absent from ones mind and heart personaly. This is one of only a few that I have found that trully lays out these first principles..[george rochs'a world without heroes' and all of g.k. chesterton are a few].I highly recommend this book as well as his book on happiness....Enjoy fellow Americans and brothers and sisters under our Father.
"Truly is an outstanding reading of a classic,"
First off,I hate to admit it,but I am a very picky person [a.k.a. a big pain in the A@# ].however,I like and recognize quality and do not apologize for praising it.This REALY is the best reading of this book out there..I like this book but honestly it draggs at points..This great narator realy fills those moments so this novel is digested as a continuous whole.I HIGHLY recommend this version of Moby Dick..you can trust all the reviews praising it[ that coming from a big picky pain in the A@#} ENJOY!
