Master of suspense James Patterson continues the Women's Murder Club series with this nail-biter of a sequel to 1st to Die. Four women - a police detective, an assistant D.A., a journalist, and a medical examiner - combine their efforts, risking everything, to catch a serial killer. "As with Patterson's best novels," Booklist says, "the surprises keep coming until the final pages."

    Jean says: "Painful pastime"
"Do not waste time or money."

I think James was drunk when he wrote this book. The story is good but it's terribly written and read. The narrator cannot make up her mind whether she is reading a poetry book or a murder mystery. "1st to Die" was pretty good though.

Franz Kafka's final novel tells the haunting tale of a man known only as K. and of his relentless, unavailing struggle with an inscrutable authority in order to gain entrance to the Castle. Although Kafka seemed to consider The Castle a failure, critics, in wrestling with its enigmatic meaning, have recognized it as one of the great novels of our century.

When Time and Again was published in 1970, The New York Times hailed it as "a fanciful novel that beautifully blends science fiction, nostalgia, and mystery." Millions of fans agreed, making the book a modern classic. Travel with author Jack Finney back to an incredible world where there are no such things as automobiles, airplanes, computers or television...back to January 1882.

William R. Creech says: "Good historical fiction"
    "Boring"
    Overall

This is one of the most boring books I ever read. After a couple chapters I had to force myself to listen to the book. Too many useless details.

On his deathbed, Franz Kafka asked that all his unpublished manuscripts be burned. Fortunately, his request was ignored, allowing such works as The Trial to earn recognition among the literary masterpieces of the 20th century. This brilliant new translation of The Castle captures comedic elements and visual imagery that earlier interpretations missed.

John says: "Obscure, enigmatic, and not for everyone"
    "Terrible"
    Overall

This book is boring due to the translation.
