The narrator did an excellent job at capturing the Gothic sentimentality of the characters. His interpretations of Stoker's prose and dialogue was just the right mood for the novel. As for the novel itself, there's no point in reviewing it. It's Dracula. Enough said.

The more I listen to books in addition to reading them the more I've learned the importance of the narrator. The narrator here was an excellent match for the main character, Felix Castor. His voice matched Castor's wry wit and sense of humor perfectly.

And although there were some predictable elements and characters, there was enough novelty and imagination to keep the story fresh.

I enjoy Philip Pullman and his ideas. However, the audio was grating. Lyra's voice got on my nerves. So did the music in between chapters.

This book was fairly predictable, a bit too melodramatic. The teenage girls are even more annoying and stupid than the stereotypical "teen." The whining and complaining gets old. The characters are not even consistent in their actions or emotions, except perhaps Pippa, who is just downright 100% stereotypical. The narrator's voice irritating and her portrayal of the characters made them even more intolerable than they already were.
