Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

I have been reading Nora Roberts for years, and will even re-read some of her books. This is one of the better one's that she has wrote. I liked the reader as well. She was great. I just finished this and it was very hard to put it down. I kept staying up way past my bed time to continue listening. Thanks Nora for another good one, I will enjoy re-reading.

Txema Ybarra is the most unenviable 19-year-old girl alive. Smart, pretty, and athletically gifted, this University of Tennessee freshman should be enjoying college life and her entrance into adulthood. And for a moment she does...until the vampires show up. Born with an unusual "twin teardrop" birthmark on her neck, Txema (pronounced Chema) is one of only a handful of females in the world who bear this trait. It marks her as a vessel of eternal youth and beauty for an elite vampire society determined to protect her precious blood....

My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I'm pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis.

I read the reviews on this book, and agree with the southern accent it is a little over the top, As for the comment on it being just like another Stephanie Plum novel, I agree and disagree. I read books for the entertainment and if they are funny or silly, I get just as much out of that as I do reading a book from Dan Brown. So I enjoyed this book and it made the day a little bit lighter and would like to see what else Liliana comes up with.

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

When LA’s vampires, witches, and werewolves make a mess, they call Scarlett Bernard to clean it up. Her ability as a null erases all magical traces from anything — or anyone — that comes within ten feet of her, and keeps humans in the dark about the city’s paranormal activity. One night when she’s called to a grisly crime scene, Scarlett is spied by the all-too-human LAPD cop Jesse Cruz, who strikes up a deal with her: he’ll keep quiet about the supernatural underworld if she helps him crack the case. She agrees, but the city’s chief vampire, Dash, starts to suspect Scarlett is behind the murders and will reveal all she knows of his shadowy empire. Now it’ll take more than Scarlett’s unique abilities to clear her name, keep the underworld underground, and track down the real killer.

I finished this and its not that I didnt like this book or story, but I dont exactly like it either. I may not ever ready another one of Melissa Olson's books again. I like books to end well. I dont mind some hanging on to cliffs, but I dont like characters who can not fight for them selves. I dont like the thought of the lead vamp holding threats and death over Scarlets head. Usually dont like to give a bad review, just having issues with what I think is a weakness in Scarlet.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story line could be very good, but I kept feeling like it was geared more towards teenage group. Too may childish behaviors and spats with the primary characters

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The scifi part. I enjoy the unusual.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

She read good... I just felt like the story line was too young.

    Any additional comments?

I hate to say anything bad, it was a decent read, just felt young, and I didnt expect that.

Awakening after all this time in a world of absolute darkness and oppressive heat, Dax wonders in how many ways the world above must have changed. But it is how he has changed that fills him with dread and loathing. Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in the Carpathian Mountains, Dax fears that he has become the full-fledged abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries.

If you could sum up Dark Storm in three words, what would they be?

    Ever changing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jubal, cant wait to see how he turns out.

Have you listened to any of Erik Bergmann and Kristine Ryan ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Not that I can remember.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I guess it was... what is next???

    Any additional comments?

I really love Christine Feehan books, and this one was no different, but my absolute favs are the ones where all of the characters get together for a common goal... I kept waiting for that to happen in this one...

What made the experience of listening to Death's Rival the most enjoyable?

I really enjoy the story and characters...

What other book might you compare Death's Rival to and why?

It's hard to say, I can't really think of anything that close. Different authors have different personalities, so they all have something unique.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

I love her, she is awesome in the different voices. Thanks

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Oh definatly, it is great.

    Any additional comments?

Cant wait for the next one.

Would you try another book from Tina Connolly and/or Rosalyn Landor?

I tried and tried to get into this book. The story seamed ok but I couldn't get into it. I finally gave up... it was making me drowsy. Sorry... I was hoping it would keep me interested.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Couldn't get into it.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

    She was fine...

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No

    Any additional comments?

Again, sorry I couldn't get into it.
