Science is now revealing how the flow of thoughts actually sculpts the brain. By combining breakthroughs in neuroscience with insights from thousands of years of contemplative practice, you, too, can use your mind to shape your brain for greater happiness, love, and wisdom.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The ideas were jumbled and did not seem to follow on from each other. the reading was jerky and heard to follow.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was disappointed especially because the forwards were by esteemed authorities themselves.

Mindset is one of those rare audio books that can help you make positive changes in your life and at the same time see the world in a new way. A leading expert in motivation and personality psychology, Carol Dweck has discovered in more than 20 years of research that our mindset is not a minor personality quirk: it creates our whole mental world. It explains how we become optimistic or pessimistic. It shapes our goals, our attitude toward work, and ultimately predicts whether or not we will fulfull our potential.

What made the experience of listening to Mindset the most enjoyable?

Simple ideas that i could apply to myself and to relationships with other people.

What did you like best about this story?

This is not a story book, although lots of stories to illustrate points.

What???s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That I can change my mindset and that I swing from fixed to growth mindset freely, so the choice is mine.

    Any additional comments?

Some of the chapters were padding, too many illustrations from business and sports world that didn't move the content along.

  • Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation

From everyday stress to severe trauma, many obstacles to a full life can be overcome by developing what Dr. Daniel J. Siegel calls "mindsight," our ability to perceive the mind and literally redirect the flow of energy and information within our brains. Through this powerful capacity for insight and empathy, we can "rewire" crucial connections, create dynamic linkages, and open ourselves to relationships in a new way.

"Clear explanation of brain and emotional life"
    Overall

This is a fantastic book. I have enjoyed listening to it at the gym and while driving. I don't always remember the details of the brain parts, but have a clearer understanding of how these parts do interact and how their development relates to the interpersonal relationships that we have in life. This book would be very useful for psychotherapists as well as for general readers.
