What's it like to be Miami criminal defense attorney Jack Swyteck? Simply imagine that your father is Florida's governor, your best friend was once on death row, and your love life could fill an entire chapter in Cupid's Rules of Love and War (Idiot's Edition). Throw in an indictment for murder and a litany of lesser charges that could easily get a lawyer disbarred, and believe it or not, you're only scratching the surface.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. Did not hold my attention.

What was most disappointing about James Grippando’s story?

I bought this recording without knowing any details about story. That is because I have read all of the other Swyteck books & they are great! I was initially disappointed when I realized this was going to be a rehash of the Casey Anthony case but I put that aside, confident that Grippando would add a twist that would make it worth it. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Frankly, I was bored. The story moved excruciatingly slowly, was slightly illogical and I found that at certain points in the story I forgot who the different players were - this is VERY unusual for a Grippando book.

    Any additional comments?

I am still a huge Swyteck fan but I can not recommend this one.

All over the world, brutal attacks are crippling entire cities. Jackson Oz, a young biologist, watches the escalating events with an increasing sense of dread. When he witnesses a coordinated lion ambush in Africa, the enormity of the violence to come becomes terrifyingly clear. With the help of ecologist Chloe Tousignant, Oz races to warn world leaders before it's too late. The attacks are growing in ferocity, cunning, and planning, and soon there will be no place left for humans to hide.

Would you listen to Zoo again? Why?

Yes, Whether it stretches reality or not it is riveting!

What other book might you compare Zoo to and why?

Plot is along the lines of Jurassic Park but MUCH more graphic.

Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first time listening to Snyder but his performance was pretty good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

Somewhere, deep inside the United States government, is a deadly list. Members of Congress never get to see it and only the president has the final say over it. Once your name is on the list, it doesn't come off - until you're dead. Someone has just added counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath's name to the list. Somehow, Harvath must evade the teams dispatched to kill him long enough to untangle who has framed him and why they want him out of the way.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend the Scot Harvath series but not this particular book. The plot of the book seemed to just be an afterthought compared to the concentration on the subject of Internet/communication security. At times I felt like I was sitting through a security lecture. Thor is usually successful @ combining a great plot w/interesting tidbits of political info & heart pounding action. Not this time.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Learning about all of the technology that is being used to spy/"protect" citizens was really interesting; I just wish it could have been better interwoven into the story.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I didn't enjoy Armand Schultz' performance. His voice for Scot was too weak; it simply did not match the strong, deadly Black Ops persona. Also Nicholas sounded like a child, when we know that despite his stature he has a strong, slightly British accented voice.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Undecided...
