Kate Morton handles the intricacies of a story that covers multiple generations and settings. The story satisfies and the period pieces are spot on. A wonderful story and a good recording.
This series continues to satisfy with engaging stories, a wonderful local, and characters that you wish you actually knew in person.
While the concept of multiple murders within such a small community is a bit difficult to swallow, the stories are great fun and the characters really special. I love hearing about life in Canada and the issues between Francophones and Anglophones in Quebec. Very interesting books.
I do not hand out 5 stars lightly nor often. This book really stole my heart and mind. Great story, difficult time shifts handled masterfully, plenty of intrigue, and unforgettable characters. The performance is excellent.
Louise Penny's books are intriguing with complex characters, intersting stories, and wonderful verisimilitude. I recommend this one for an enjoyable experience, a good story, well written, well read.
Ken Follett has found a way to make history live. This epic novel, and the first part of an epic trilogy, fullfills all expectations. Excellent story, well told, and very well performed.
If you enjoy truly eloquent writing, you will be glad to find Amor Towles. Wonderful turns of phrase, a delightful recreation of an interesting era, three dimensional characters. I will be watching for his next offereing.
The story is gripping, the reading is excellent, and the inclusion of music adds just the right note, pun intended. Picoult is a wonderful writer who looks at difficult situations from all angles with equal sympathy. And she creates multi-faceted characters you really care about. Highly recommended. Keep your mind and heart open and enjoy it from beginning to end.
I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting portrait of Hemingway and of the artistic community of Americans in Paris in the post-World War I era. Told from an interesting perspective, it offers insights into the life of an important author and the early influences on his writing.
Although I generally have little patience with stories "ripped from the headlines," this story of the wronged politician's wife becomes an engaging tale of self-discovery. The ending is predictable, but on the whole the experience is enjoyable. Nice light listening.
