I like most of Susan Mallery's books with few exceptions, I did not like this one. It's obvious that this is an early work based on the clothing that is described, it was funny at first but once the novelty wears off it's just hard to buy into. The word that kept popping into my head as I listened to this book was plodding, the build up to romance is endless! Another thing that has always bothered me about SM is her male leads unbending and unrealistic feelings toward women based on past experiences, the lead in this book is the worst by far. A bad marriage has convinced him that all women are decitful liars, hard to believe that an intelligent man would feel that way.

First of all this narrarator was horrible. He's good with male voices but his women are whiny and when he did the yongest boys voice I cringed. (I have a five year old boy, they don't sound like that!) As far as the story goes, I wonder if I would have liked it more if I had read it. I get that it's the first in a trilogy so there is a lot of groundwork to lay for the rest of the books but it just seemed so flat. I'm not giving up on Nora, she has brought so many wonderful stories to life and I know she can bring her magic to books two and three.

I love almost all Susan Mallery books and this was no exception, but the narrarator was awful! She sounds like an old woman which meant that it was like having my grandma read me steamy sex scenes! Her various secondary charachters ended up having weird accents that did not go with the story. Read the book yourself, don't have Gayle Hendrix do it for you!!!

Loved the story, loved Shannon Cochran, this book was worth the long wait. Keep up the excellent work SEP, but please write faster!

If I had read this book not knowing who had written it I would not have guessed that it was a Grisham novel. Most of Grisham's stories follow a similar path but this book was a complete departure from the plan. I loved the way the story flowed and the charachters drifted in and out of the narrative. I loved that I found myself questioning my long held opinions on the subject of the death penalty and I loved that Grisham shined a light on some truly backward practices in our justice system. The one thing that I didn't like was that it seemed that the main villain was the state of Texas. If you are a Texan or just a fan of the state you may be upset by many of the anti-Texas references.

I downloaded this book for a road trip and regretted it almost immediately. If I had had any options I would not have finished this book.

I finished EPL about a month ago and still can't decide if I liked it or not. I can safely say that it's better than the movie!

I started my journey through the psyche of Ayn Rand with Atlas Shrugged and didn't think I could possibly enjoy the Fountainhead as much, I did. The theme's of the two are similar but that is where the similarity stops, this is not a variation of Atlas Shrugged. I loved the charachters, the story and the message. It's half as long as AS which is a plus but The Fountainhead is just as engaging and enlightening. Thank you Ayn Rand (wherever you are) for sharing your mind with the world.

I generally purchase audio books when I have a long drive planned. When I listened to "Lady be Good" I completed my drive with two hours left on the book, and it took me a week to get around to finishing the story! It's not that the book is bad, it just isn't so good that I felt the need to finish it in a timely manner. Having read about SEP's next book I am glad that I completed "Lady be Good" because one of it's characters is the male lead in her next novel.

I resisted this book because the summary didn't sound interesting enough. I needed a book for a road trip and decided to go for it, and I'm glad I did. Cal Bonner is one of my favorite SEP characters and I enjoyed getting to know his brothers. The only negative would be the voice of five year old Edward. I love Anna Fields and miss her voice, but she can't do kids, they end up sounding like whining babies.
