Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, is hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the successful editor of Runway magazine. Andrea finds herself in an office that shouts Prada! Armani! Versace! at every turn. As things escalate from the merely unacceptable to the downright outrageous, Andrea begins to realize that the job a million girls would die for may just kill her. And even if she survives, she has to decide whether the job is worth the price of her soul.

    Overall

I loved this book! It was a pleasure to listen to while commuting to work each day...it was not only fun to listen to, but after hearing about how horrible the 'job a million girls would kill for' was on a daily basis, it made me appreciate going to work a little more than I might have normally. The book is filled with humor and I actually found myself dreading finishing it, as I enjoyed listening to the everyday escapades of Andrea and all the other characters that made up Runway magazine! If you are looking for a lighthearted, funny and entertaining diversion, I recommend this great 'listen'....

Last summer, The New Yorker published chef Anthony Bourdain's shocking, "Don't Eat Before Reading This." Now, the author uses the same "take-no-prisoners" attitude in his deliciously funny and shockingly delectable audiobook, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike.

    "Great listen for the foodie"
    Overall

This audiobook was very enjoyable. It caught my interest from the beginning, and I always looked forward to the next time I could tune in. Anyone who really enjoys cooking and especially foodies will enjoy this. I thought the narration by the author was great, I enjoyed hearing him read the story in a sort of "this is your life" type of way; it was almost like hearing a story from a friend. He also knew how to emphasize his points, since he lived through them. This was one of my favorite "listens" from Audible; I enjoyed it so much I'm sure I will listen to it again someday.

When Chaz Perron's wife discovers that he is running a scam (posing as a marine biologist to doctor water samples so that an agribusiness tycoon can continue illegally dumping fertilizer into the Everglades), he pushes her overboard from a cruise liner. Unlucky for Chaz, Joey survives clutching a bale of Jamaican pot. Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

    Overall

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I enjoy light reading (think Janet Evanovich), and this book had me from the first paragraph. I really enjoyed the protagonist squirming as his "dead" wife haunts him without him knowing she's alive! The characters were all enjoyable with their quirky traits. Fun and entertaining listening for my long commute. I'm going to seek out other works by this author, as I enjoyed his style and humor while becoming engrossed in the fun plot line. If you are looking for a light and enjoyable listen, this is a great choice.
