Maybe a better editor would have helped? Quite a few lines were repeated and I kept thinking, "Wasn't that already said in the last chapter"? Kinda weird. Male voices were creepy!
I was really looking forward to a bit of a change from Regency, but this novel, though well read, had so much trivia about who married who, why and when and which uncles great nephews cousin....blah, blah, blah. Yawn!
A second listen didn't help. I had to cringe when it talked of "a lazy southern drawl" and it was done with a fairly thick IRISH accent! Why do they did this to such lovely story? It's a shame, but I don't think I can recommend this one.
This Regency story actually has more than 1 story line and/or 2 significant characters. I'll locate more of this author AND narrator, who was amazing!
Looking for more in the series..."Spicy Shorts". A pleasant surprise. Short and to the point!
A public rape where the sweetheart and two others participates and the heroin enjoys it??
Super sad statement on what our idea of "entertainment" has become.
Narrator had a rich, beautiful voice, but it only seemed to fit with the servants or other working class characters. Not sophisticated enough for members of the aristocracy.
Also, recording quality was TERRIBLE!!! Sounded like she was in an echoing room but worse. Made a sound engineer I know listen to it and he said the narrator was, "off mic". I'm very surprised it was published that way.
I set it down and picked it back up 3 different time, but just couldn't finish it!!
Boring. Couldn't finish it, in spite of the great narration. Should be listed as a novel, not a romance.
What's up Amanda??
Why did they get a used car salesman to pitch such important, heartfelt information??
