"Interesting book"
I am not a big magic fan, but I really enjoyed this book. I like listening to biographies and I did not know much about Houdini.
Good writing and narration. Definitely kept my interest the entire book.
Recommended.
"Good, but not as good as the first book"
I have been looking forward to this book since learning it was going to be released. It was good, but not as good as the first book. They ended up retelling a great deal from the first book. I expected the Burpo family to go into further depth than they did.
I would still recommend it if you enjoyed "Heaven Changes Everything." Just do not expect any new revelations from this book. The part that I did enjoy was hearing the spontaneous prayer by their son.
"Required reading for a literature major."
I must start by saying I only listened to a few chapters. I am a smart guy with a doctorate degree, but this was way over my head. I am sure this is required reading for a literature major in graduate school. As for reading for enjoyment or to broaden my mind, this was not something I enjoyed. I am sure if I could have toughed it out, it would have broaden my mind, but I enjoy Audible books to relax. This was not relaxing. Good luck to the literature majors, but this was not for me.
"Laughing Out Loud - Repeatedly"
I have enjoyed Kevin Pollack's work for a long time. Hearing his story in his own voice, is priceless.
Kevin Pollack does such a great job at telling wonderful stories of working with Hollywood elite without sounding like he was name dropping. I think he is too humble to realize that he is now part of that Hollywood elite in my opinion.
This is one of the funniest audiobooks I have every listened to. While listening in my car, I am sure that I look ridiculous laughing my head off. I am sure that Kevin would enjoy that he was able to get one more person to humiliate himself at his expense.
I only recommend this if you want to laugh like you have not laughed in a long time.
WARNING - Do not get this book if you do not want to laugh out loud!
"Cute Idea"
This seems like a cute idea. I have seen something similar with the World War 2 Holocaust Project by Steven Spielberg. This one is for having good memories of our past.
"Interesting book"
The writing does a good job at what the daily life at Alcatraz was like. Great piece of non-fiction.
Recommended.
"Amazing"
This was an amazing book. One of the best Audible books in my collection. I have recommended it personally to a number of friends of mine. I live near Lincoln's birthplace so there is "Lincoln" everything in this area; roads, banks, parks, festivals, etc., so there is a regional interest in Lincoln.
I like Bill O'Reilly but I was hesitant to listen to a book narrated by him. I thought I would get annoyed listening to him for an entire book, but I was wrong. He does a fantastic job as a narrator. Such a good job that I downloaded his book "Killing Kennedy."
This book is such a great narrative of the last days of the Civil War and what the emotion of the country was at that contentious time. He did a great job of putting you in the mindset of Booth and his true hate of Lincoln and Booth's deep to the core narcissism.
Highly recommended.
"This is a must read."
Great narrator.
I recommend this to my best friend. He was reading it while waiting in an airport. Two servicemen saw him reading it and gave him a "thumbs up".
We have all hear the basic story, but this gives the real story.
Highly recommended.
"This should be required reading for everybody."
It makes you think about your mortality and how your life affects others.
I enjoyed listening about Morrie dancing.
Sometimes the books being read by the author is not always a good thing, but in this case Mitch Albom did a great job. The impact the story had on his life is translated well in his narration.
I listen to almost everything at 1 1/2 to 3 times the normal speed with the iPhone app. I cannot do this with all narrators, but I could easily do this with this audio book.
"Donald Sutherland is Amazing!"
Donald Sutherland proves how great of a performer he is with this narration of "The Old Man and the Sea". I felt as if Hemingway himself was reading this to me.
As I listened, I could feel the rope across my back and the torn flesh of my hands holding the line as I patiently waited for the big fish.
