David Shipler delves into the origins of the prejudices of Jews and Arabs that have been intensified by war, terrorism, and nationalism. Focusing on the diverse cultures that exist side by side in Israel and Israeli-controlled territories, Shipler examines the process of indoctrination that begins in schools; he discusses the far ranging effects of socioeconomic differences, historical conflicts between Islam and Judaism, attitudes about the Holocaust, and much more.

    Overall

In today's world of conflict, this book helps give insight into the seemingly never ending insanity in the Middle East. If more people could read or listen to this insightful book, we may start to see how understanding can lead to forgiveness and an eventual cessation of war.

In her best-selling Amelia Peabody mysteries, author Elizabeth Peters has created an award-winning mixture of vivid archeological detail, finely-tuned suspense, and witty romance. This, the 12th Amelia Peabody mystery, opens in 1914. As the tides of war rise, Egypt is threatened by attacks. Espionage abounds, pulling in several members of the Peabody Emerson household even as they embark on a new archeological season.

"Book for the Author & Reader's friends & relatives"
    Overall

I liked the reader's voice for about 3 minutes and then found it tiresome. The story moves along as interestingly as a screeching sawblade moving towards the proverbial hero in the sawmill. I was interested to see if I could pull myself away in time to do something useful with my time. Sorry to disappoint your relatives and friend who reviewed it ahead of me.

In this historic recording, Tolkien reads and sings from his classic novel, which has entranced millions of readers. Featured are excerpts from The Two Towers, The Return of the King, and The Fellowship of the Ring, Elvish plain chants, a moving elegy for Boromir, and much more.

Albert says: "Beware! This is a 45 minute mess."
"I couldn't even stand 3 minutes of his voice!"
    Overall

As good of a writer he is, the author should not read his own work. His voice is difficult to understand and he attempts to almost sing the material. The sound of page turning is distracting and he says "stop" at the end of a sentence. Get the book instead.
