Superbly written, albeit a bit long-winded in places. The narrator does have some of the previously mentioned "whiney" attributes, however, his command of accentuation and short stops in long sentences more than makes up for any shortcomings.
This book should scare the heck out of us, I am disgusted with the typical fat American way of thinking when it comes to food: make it cheap, make the portions huge, and I really don't care about the consequences.
I can only say that I am overjoyed to live in Europe, where I have choices regarding purchasing food, and I am not forced to consume mass-produced, hormone and antibiotic-laden material.
The part on hunting and gathering, which comprises about a third of the book, could be a bit shorter but overall this is an excellent 'read' (listen).

Very compelling book. I agree with the reviewer 'Dale' that his is a frightful telling of her life story in Lebanon, being terrorized by the Arab-Muslim states that surround it.
I found her memoirs a bit too detailed in parts. I know ahe was trying to convey a one-time idyllic life as a child but the exact color and shape of her 6th birthday dress are rather irrelevant. I also aggree that she seems to place Israel and Israelis on pedestals, which is surely not deserved in the grand scheme of things. She blames the Carter and Clinton administrations for being 'soft' on terrorism (a favorite Bush campaign rhetoric). Her analysis of the situation is, however, generalized and she cannot offer sound solutions (in her defense, none of us are able to) as the gaining popularity of Islam seems to be a run-away-train leading to destruction of the west as we know it.

She gets a bit preachy in the end, reciting some examples over and over, but nonetheless, this is a must listen as it is important in that it contributes to our understanding that Muslims worldwide are following the teachings of the Quar'an, which demands complete conversion for all of mankind. She rightfully points out that there really isn't any 'moderate' Islam, and that as Americans and Europeans, we need to wake up and see this fact for what it is if we want to continue living in a free society.

This is a very interesting book. It goes into great detail of the financially funded political way of life on capitol hill. This detail also causes the reader (listener) to get buried at times. Perhaps too many names and associated dates are given for some of the examples. This would probably be easier to digest (or skim) in the written version, but the listener has no choice.
Right-wing fundamentalists and evangelical Christian bible thumpers are most likely to howl in places; the narrator does emphasize certain passages with a bit of extra zeal.
Overall, I was fascinated by how virtually all of the major and minor political desicions are directly influenced by possibilities of financial or power gains for our elected representatives.
Truly amazing how massively powerful, wealthy, yet utterly corrupt our administration has become.
People who like Ann Coulter should not read this book, but then those folks probably can't comprehend the written word anyway.
