In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

Having read the rest of the series, I was somewhat dubious about this new book. I was wonderfully suprised. Don't miss out on this if you're a fan of the series. Also, don't be afraid to pick this up as a stand alone novel. The Wind Through the Keyhole is a credit well spent.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

I made it to chapter 2 before I had to put this down. I put up with a lengthy description of a financial collapse only to realize that the main character and his wife are completely uninteresting. When I found myself wishing someone would kill them, I turned the book off. I was hoping for something gritty and desperate, but that didn't happen. It's a shame really, because I was interested in the premise.

Note: Dick Hill does a reasonable job, but his narration isn't well suited to the tale.

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before. A killer who is just like him. Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry.

I just love this series. For me, Gentry is the anti-hero as his best. Greaney seems to get better with every book, and I'm already looking forward to the next installment. If you're looking for a great thriller series, look no farther.

This is easily the best Gray Man book so far. The Latin American setting is a nice change of pace, and allowed for some pretty interesting dynamics. Gentry seems more human now after his mistakes in the previous book, and his new vulnerability made me like him more. Greaney is getting better each time. Worth a credit for anyone that likes a good story.

Kyle Riggs is snatched by an alien spacecraft sometime after midnight. The ship is testing everyone it catches and murdering the weak. The good news is that Kyle keeps passing tests and staying alive. The bad news is the aliens who sent this ship are the nicest ones out there.

This book is pretty original in a lot of its ideas. It is also of good length, and I felt that the narrator did a good job. Add to that the four subsequent novels in the series that are available, and it is well worth your credit. If you can snatch it up before the $4.95 sale ends, you should.

Pros: Well written Military Sci-Fi with a pretty original twist.

Cons: Sometimes the protagonist seemed wildly immune to any form of grief, but honestly I'm reaching for something to say here.

Summary: Totally worth my credit. I'm eager to read the next book in the series.

Captain Eric Weston and his crew encounter horrors, wonders, monsters, and people; all of which will test their resolve, challenge their abilities, and put in sharp relief what is necessary to be a hero. A first-rate military-science-fiction epic that combines old-school space opera and modern storytelling, Into the Black: Odyssey One is a riveting, exhilarating adventure with vivid details, rich mythology, and relentless pacing.

I really enjoyed this book. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is narrator's performance. I realize that the technical jargain can get complicated at times, but every so often he would get out of caddence, and use the wrong emphasis. Though its definately worth dealing with if you're a fan of the genre. I hope there will be more soon from this author.

Combat veteran and author Hans Halberstadt takes listeners deeper inside the elusive world of snipers than ever before, from recruitment and training to the brutality of the killing fields. Based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews, Halberstadt gets inside the sniper mind and shows how snipers think and interact with each other, how missions are planned and executed, how the weapons work, and even what happens when a bullet finally strikes its target.

There are only a few hundred snipers from all the services put together in combat at any one time, making this true inside story a rare and important event.

I've been listening to books on audible for three years. In that time I haven't written a single review, either positive or negative. Unfortunately, this book is so bad, I have to break my silence. After two hours of listening, I was still waiting for some kind of point. It says "Wow, snipers are super high speed and neato." Then it proceeds to rinse and repeat for seven plus hours. Just really bad. For a great read try Big Boy Rules. Or if you're in the mood for a classic, try E.B. Sledge.

Agatha Raisin is lonely. Busy as she is with her detective agency and the meetings of the Carsely Ladies' Society, she still misses her ex-husband, James Lacey. So she welcomes his return to the cottage next door with her usual triumph of optimism over experience, especially when he invites her on holiday at a surprise location that was once very dear to him.

More of a plea to Audible. Please finish the Agatha Raisin Series. I am a mother of a 15 month old with no time to sit with a book. I listen to audiobooks while I do dishes or house work. I love this series and I also enjoy the convenience of Audible.com. So, please don't make me go and buy a paperback to read "Kissing Christmas Goodbye".
