How has Google done it? Veteran technology reporter Steven Levy was granted unprecedented access to the company, and in this revelatory book he takes listeners inside Google headquarters - the Googleplex - to explain how Google works.

For the first time in unabridged audio! A small Kansas town has turned into a killing ground. Is it a serial killer, a man with the need to destroy? Or is it a darker force, a curse upon the land? Amid golden cornfields, FBI Special Agent Pendergast discovers evil in the blood of America's heart.

A handful of people. From different backgrounds, living in different towns and cities across America, they had nothing in common - except fear. Deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, a dark memory called out to them, drawing them to the Tranquility Motel - where the terrifying truth was waiting.

What did you like best about Strangers? What did you like least?

It is as though the story had short bursts of action, and other parts where your mind tends to wonder off. Not as gripping as some of his other works.

Would you recommend Strangers to your friends? Why or why not?

No, unless you have lots of time. You should also concentrate all the time, as he tends to wonder off with the many characters. At times I was a bit lost in the story. Not sure who was who. Although it all comes together at the end, it takes a long time to get there.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Yes. Did not really like the voices of any females.

Did Strangers inspire you to do anything?

Yes, to concentrate all the time, or you could loose the plot.

    Any additional comments?

    Try something shorter. Pehaps abridged?

Lehrer shows how people are taking advantage of the new science to make better television shows, win more football games, and improve military intelligence.

Must be the most boring book I have listened to, ever! Listened to the end, but it took great effort to complete the book.
Rather spend your money on some other book.

  • Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base

Myths and hypotheses about Area 51 have long abounded, thanks to the intense secrecy enveloping it. Some claim it is home to aliens, underground tunnel systems, and nuclear facilities. Others believe that the lunar landing was filmed there. The prevalence of these rumors stems from the fact that no credible insider has ever divulged the truth about his time inside the base. Until now.

A User says: "Reality, always more interesting than fiction."
    "Now where are those aliens?"
    Overall

A good listen, high lighting the devious ways the US Government use to play their "war games". I was hoping for more on UFO's and Aliens, but this really only seems to be a myth. Pitty.

The top-secret structure has been designed for one purpose: to excavate a recently discovered undersea site that may hold the answers to an ancient mystery.

    Tom says: "Must Read"
    "Good listening!!"
    Overall

Really enjoyed this book, and kept me in suspence most of the time.
Although some of the other reviews are negative, it is a science fiction story, with a hero, who saved the day (and the planet!).
Money well spent, and safe on my I-pod for a re-listed at some point.

Good story, switching between the present and the past. I enjoyed the peek into the way we lived 700 years ago, and the details of the time. Time travel would really be marvelous, and the author does an excellent job of describing this concept.
