I am a self-proclaimed nerd and I love books. Tall books, short books, skinny books and fat long as it's a captivating story with interesting characters I'm in. And whenever I hear the Audible guy go "This is Audible" I get excited for my next adventure! See? Total nerd. :)

  • The Heroes of Olympus, Book One: The Lost Hero

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Rick Riordan
    • Narrated By Joshua Swanson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After saving Olympus from the evil Titan lord, Kronos, Percy and friends have rebuilt their beloved Camp Half-Blood, where the next generation of demigods must now prepare for a chilling prophecy of their own.... In a brand-new series from blockbuster best-selling author Rick Riordan, fans return to the world of Camp Half-Blood. Here, a new group of heroes will inherit a quest. But to survive the journey, they'll need the help of some familiar demigods.

Matthew says: "Great Book, The Narrator Was Alright"
    "Great listen!!! Highly recommended!"

I haven't even finished listening to this one yet, but I know I will be disappointed when it's over. I've listened to the entire Percy Jackson series and was prepared to be disappointed with the new "heroes", but I was wrong! The story is wonderful and I found that I was totally intrigued by these new characters. Can't wait for more!

  • The Help

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Kathryn Stockett
    • Narrated By Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, and others
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Jan says: "What a great surprise!"
"An Amazing Story and a Beautiful Performance!"

I had heard of the book, noticed that it was made into a movie and never thought about reading or seeing either of them. But then I noticed it on Audible and I figured I would see what all the fuss was about. After listening to this book almost non stop (a girl's gotta sleep I guess) I understood what everyone was talking about...and I had a southern accent for about a week. Any time a listener can feel like they are there in the moment means that the story was beautifully written and the narrators gave a wonderful performance. Definitely a great download!

  • Divergent

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Veronica Roth
    • Narrated By Emma Galvin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Grant says: "It's not for me. Loved it anyway."
    "An Awesome Series!"

I'm always very tentative when it comes to purchasing new audiobooks or starting a new series, but good lord I'm glad I downloaded this one! After reading The Hunger Games I thought that Divergent would be "just ok" and "a good copy" and that I'd listen to it and that would be it, but I've listened to it multiple times....and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great audiobook!

  • The Emperor's Tomb

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Steve Berry
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The tomb of China’s First Emperor, guarded by an underground army of terra-cotta warriors, has remained sealed for more than 2,000 years. Though it’s regarded as one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, the Chinese government won’t allow anyone to open it. Why? That question is at the heart of a dilemma faced by former Justice Department operative Cotton Malone, whose life is shattered when he receives an anonymous note carrying an unfamiliar Web address.

    Jackie says: "Fascinating Ride!"
    "Just okay..."

I really enjoy both Steve Berry and Scott Brick, however I found my mind wandering while listening to this one. Normally I'm sad when the books are over, but I was ready to be done with this one. There seemed to be a lot of background or historical information, which is necessary, but maybe this was too much. The action scenes were good, but I didn't find myself on the edge of my seat. It's an okay listen - I'm glad I bought it at the introductory price.
