I don't mind getting stuck in traffic...as long as I have an audio book playing.

After a shocking loss, Stone Barrington is at loose ends, unsure if he wants to stay in New York and continue his work as a partner at Woodman & Weld. It comes as a welcome relief when he's summoned to Washington, D.C., by President Will Lee. The president has a special operation that calls for Stone's unique skill set, and it's a mission that will reunite him with his former partner in crime and in bed, Holly Barker.

Would you try another book from Stuart Woods and/or Tony Roberts?

Yes - when I don't have anything meatier to listen to.

Would you recommend D.C. Dead to your friends? Why or why not?

Sure - if you have a long commute...this might be fun to listen to in your iPod.

What about Tony Roberts’s performance did you like?

He was OK...his craggy voice is fun to listen to.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would watch a mini series of this book on TV but not pay to watch it in the theater.

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

Where does Words of Radiance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

4 out of 5 and that is only because I am not a Kate Reading fan. Sorry. Otherwise, I just couldn't stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?

Complex characters who evolved and grew from the first book.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I find Kate Reading's work really grating and sometimes unconvincing...especially when she plays younger female characters. She unintentionally makes them sound annoying and unlikeable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    None

If you could sum up Tara Road in three words, what would they be?

Beautifully woven story with characters that I missed long after I finished reading.

What other book might you compare Tara Road to and why?

A grown up version of Enid Blyton books ...you want to seat down by the fire with a hot cup of coffee laced with brandy.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Borowitz’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No...I don't usually pay attention to the names of the readers

If you could take any character from Tara Road out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Brian...he would spill the beans and it would be funny.

In 17th-century Persia, a 14-year-old woman believes she will be married within the year. When her beloved father dies, she and her mother find themselves alone and without a dowry. With nowhere else to go, they are forced to sell the brilliant turquoise rug the young woman has woven to pay for their journey to Isfahan, where they will work as servants for her uncle, a rich rug designer in the court of the legendary Shah Abbas the Great.

What did you love best about The Blood of Flowers?

I could smell the spices of the bazzar, taste the exotic food, hear the voices and songs of the middle east. It awakened memories of my mother reading me the Arabian Nights at bed time. Lovely.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Blood of Flowers?

The confrontation between niece and uncle after she forged a letter using his seal. What did she think was going to happen? And her mother, having to face what I am sure was possibly her worst nightmare - living on the streets without her brother-in-law's protection.

What does Shohreh Aghdashloo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her beautify husky voice and rich accent - it could have been Sheherazade herself telling the stories - weaving her own beautiful carpet.

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Would you listen to War and Remembrance again? Why?

Probably not. I never really listen to any book twice. I am always looking forward to my next read.

What other book might you compare War and Remembrance to and why?

    Winds of War of course

Have you listened to any of Kevin Pariseau’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Yes...he is very good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Why would I want to change the title?

    Any additional comments?

I am sure this book in paperback would be over 1000 page read and it is worth it. I enjoy my commute every day and I am almost sorry when I reach my destination…I am so caught in the saga. I first listened to Winds of War and I was hooked. I recommend listening to Winds of War first. Books are not written like this anymore. So thorough, so detailed, full of heroism, suffering, perseverance, faithfulness, unfaithfulness, cruelty and heroism etc. I love it!

The U.S. Speaker of the House is assassinated in a terrifyingly precise execution in the heart of Washington, D.C. In a quieter corner of the nation's capital, the rare book room of the Library of Congress, a reclusive, wealthy scholar drops dead under mysterious circumstances that leave no clues. Where does The Collectors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Pretty good story, easy listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oliver Stone...cool cat. Reminded me of a young Clint Eastwood character in an older body.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

The story felt incomplete - it would have been nice to know what happened between Annabelle and the Atlantic City mobster at that final confrontation. Did she and stone live together? Etc, etc...

What disappointed you about Belgarath the Sorcerer?

The language was old fashioned and hard to follow...

What could David Eddings and Leigh Eddings have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Used a simple straight forward narrative - thou this thou that was so annoying

Would you be willing to try another one of J. P. Linton’s performances?

    Not really

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Belgarath the Sorcerer?

The actual scenes were not bad but the language was cumbersome.

Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

What made the experience of listening to Winter of the World the most enjoyable?

The narration was excellent. John Lee is one of my favorites.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Daisy - sponky, brave, raunchy, flawed.

Have you listened to any of John Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

John Lee is a consistently good narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I am at the last section. It did not download properly because of some type of bug. Very frustrated.

Nothing could have redeemed it for me.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades Darker?

That stupid girl protagonist...cannot even remember her name now.
