BRING BACK Jane McDowell! Clare Corbett is a terrible match for these characters! I'm going to finish the book, bit I'm dreading hearing the male characters talk. I can't comment on their accents, but she sounds as if she's doing parodies of male voices.
Loved the intimate portrayal of a Mormon wife. Much more like the Mormon women I know in terms of complexity and intelligence than is usually portrayed in the media. Also, a great story!
No. I didn't like the narrator. He did well at switching between accents and voices but his narrator voice was too much like a radio announcers.
The reading I heard of the Wonderland chapter on Selected Shorts blew the reading of it in the book WAY OUT of the water!
It was wonderful to hear it in her own voice, with her inflection and emotion.
Her emotional honesty, both when she was being funny, and when she wasn't.
