"Even for adults!"
I admit, I'm caught up in the new TV servies Once Upon a Time and perhaps that was what first intreguied me about this book series, and rightfully so! I can't help but enjoy the parallels between the fairy tale characters and their real world facade (similar to the TV show I mentioned). The girls are endearing and the characters are interesting and amusing. The narrator does a wonderful job performing the voices and carrying the story. I wish I had a little one to enjoy this series with me! It is a nice, light read.
"Just like the original!"
I find it hard to believe this book was not written by Sir Arthur! The author mimics Doyle's writing style as if he is his reincarnation. He captures the characters and thoughts of Watson in the same way as the original master!
The tale itself was quite interesting and had a feel of a more "current" issue, which was interesting to read.
If you were a fan of the original stories, you will enjoy this one as well. I highly recommend it!
"Wow! What a story!"
I know this is marketed as a "teen" book but it really opened up my eyes. This story displays the ups and downs, the tragedy, the reality that come with being a teen experiencing challenges. The "teen" view of their parents' struggles was very insightful. I'm gifting this book for Christmas, it was the captivating.
"Decent and short enough to be worth it."
While I wouldn't say this is worth a credit I think it is worth it if you get it during one of Audible's sales. This basically reads like a bullet list, reading quick sentences of appropriate versus inappropriate actions. So, the performance/format may not be completely captivating it is short enough that you can attend to it and benefit from the information as it is an interesting list. Some things are obvious/common sense but other points of information are interesting to hear. Overall okay if you get it cheap and have 2 hours of time to kill while cleaning/etc. and want to learn an thing or 2.
"I felt like I was back in college...."
Wow! I almost always finish my audiobooks, keyword: ALMOST. This book was so slow. There wasn't much life in the narration which made it difficult to stay interested. Also, I felt like the attention to subject matter would just flip flip going from detailed descriptions of events to general moments in history. It seemed like an awkward approach to revisiting history. I really wanted to finish it and brush up on history but It was so hard to attend to.
"Started slow but turned out great!"
What an adventure! This story really brought me in and had me eager to listen to the next twist!
I really "felt" the emotions and feelings of Captain Bluebear, you can understand the excitement, the loss, the fear.
Hm... I can't pick just one.
Bluebear! He was so believable in a world of make believe.
While the start was a little slow I definitely got into the book. At first I was thinking "Where is this going? What is the point?" and while there may not really be a point it is certainly a joy to relax and listen to such a wondrous adventure.
"Not As Deep As I Would Have Expected."
This book does a very good job covering the different relationships we have with animals, however, I felt is was lacking in depth. It provided a lot of instances to demonstrate our relationships with animals but not as much about how those relationships evolved or why we feel as we do as I would have liked to see. It does provide some explanations but I think I was expecting more. Overall, I'm glad to have read the information and did enjoy my time spent on this book. It may serve as a precursor to other books that research this topic more thoroughly.
"It passes time."
This was a different story but had a few many "lusty" parts for my taste. If that is a bonus for you readers then I think you will like this story. For me, I was more interested in the story line and plot than being entertained by such fantasies. The narrator did a wonderful job carrying the story and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters but I cannot say this is a book I got "attached" to as some avid readers can probably relate.
"Good Read!"
While it took a little to get myself invested I soon found that I was wrapped up in the story and could not wait to see what the great detective would do next. Perhaps I was influenced by Robert Downey Jr's portrayal of Holmes on screen but it seemed as if that role was based on this exact book! An entertaining read. The narrator does a good job of voices and presentation of the story. I only gave it a 4 because it did take a bit to get caught up but after that it carried me away.
"Eye opening..."
This book was one of my all time favorites. I even got it for my brother to read!
The only negative I could say is that the music in between chapters is a bit much...
I really enjoyed the truth and honesty found in the story. Sudhir captures life in the projects in a way no sociologist has come close to.
I highly recommend it!
