An accident leads to the discovery of a mysterious machine that has rested hidden deep underground for countless millennia. The machine awakens to begin issuing a series of increasingly alarming, if minor, omens. The omens turn out to be astonishingly accurate, and ever more ominous. As Zedd tries to figure out how to destroy the sinister device, the machine issues a cataclysmic omen involving Richard and Kahlan, foretelling an impending event beyond anyone’s ability to stop. As catastrophe approaches, the machine then reveals that it is within its power to withdraw the omen....

What would have made The Omen Machine better?

When I finished listening to this I literally went back to see if I accidentally downloaded an abridged version. The book was lacking in depth but far to graphic especially when it came to the kids. I felt like the author was in a hurry to get the book done to meet a timeline. Not sure if I will listen to another unless the reviews are really good. Very disappointed!

What do you think your next listen will be?

Listening to the 2nd book of the Hunger Games Series and just bought Phantom by Ted Bell.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I have never liked this narrator but the other past narrators haven't been that good either. Furthermore, since the first book, you sort of have a pronunciation to everyone's name and each new reader screws up someones pronunciation. Its rather irritating!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Omen Machine?

As I said, there could have been more depth in general and with that, would not have needed the level of graphic detail included.

Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time, 20 years later, she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

    "Unabridged versions are a MUST"
    Overall

I have read all books up to Drums of Autumn. They have been fantastic due to the author's writing skills and imagination and the mesmerising narrator. I now see that Diana Gobaldon has her latest book out unabridged. I have stalled! I cannot listen any further until the Fiery Cross and Breath of Snow... are availabe in unabrigded versions. The abridged versions are a rip off. So the question is...when will these books become available in unbridge version??? Guess I have to read them.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

    Overall

This book takes me away to a time that is truly adventurous and dangerous with lots of old fashion romance. Your heart yearns for Jamie and Claire to be together. I have read four books in the series. I purchased the abridged Outlander version and was sorely disappointed. But alas, the unabridged version of Outlander came and I haved been happy since. I truly recommend this as one of the best romance / adventure novels ever. I hope they come out with the rest of the series in UNabridge version SOON.

This book is everything and more in understanding our relationship with God. I could never part with this book for it is truly the spiritual interpretation of the Bible. It unviels a clear picture of Jesus' healing ministry.
