Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

"Not the sappy romance type but I love this book!"

What did you love best about The Witness?

    The strong Southern male character.

What other book might you compare The Witness to and why?

No other book but definitely would appeal to fans of the TV series Bones.

    Which scene was your favorite?

There are many. The steamy scenes, the ones where Brooks gets angry.

    Any additional comments?

I chose this book by accident. I was looking for something other than the business books that I usually listen to. My brain need a break. I have some Abagail tendencies. I thought it was more of a thriller and was shocked to find out that non-romantic me had downloaded a romance novel.

However, this is not the sappy romance that you might first think of. I'm a Southern woman and love a strong very masculine Southern male character. He's no dumb clod as we Southerners are so often stereotyped just a guy who loves a girl. I wish the performer was a guy with a real accent but understand that the story is written mostly from a female point of view - Brooks' way of looking at things "point of view".

Strangely enough I have listened to middle portion of the book multiple times. I love the courtship and Brooks' appreciation for a strong smart woman.
