Always leave a little salt on the bread. Ikey Solomon's favorite saying is also his way of doing business, and in the business of thieving he's very successful indeed. Ikey's partner in crime is his mistress, the forthright Mary Abacus, until misfortune befalls them. They are parted and each must make the harsh journey from thriving nineteenth century London to the convict settlement of Van Diemen's Land.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, it is too bigotted against religion and too full of a man's fantasy of what women want and feel.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part was the history. The least interesting was the story.

Was The Potato Factory worth the listening time?

Not for me. I didn't finish listening to the whole story.

    Yes! A softer voice.

Do you think Return of the Rose needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    no

    Any additional comments?

If the sound of the annoying voice wasn't so bad I might have been able to listen to it just for fun.

"The Trunchbull" is no match for Matilda! Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress. When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she suddenly discovers she has a remarkable power with which to fight back. It'll take a superhuman genius to give Miss Trunchbull what she deserves and Matilda may be just the one to do it!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If it Matilda was clever without being a Little Lord Fauntleroy genius who can do no wrong, the "bad" characters don't have to be fat and ugly, and that intelligece isn't worshiped

Has Matilda turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

How could the performance have been better?

    The reader was very good

What character would you cut from Matilda?

    all
