Locate the explosive. Defuse or safely detonate it. It's a job that takes cojones, and one wrong move could land marine demolitions expert Lars Reinhardt in the hurt locker…or in the morgue. But it takes a leave in Good Riddance, Alaska, for Lars to meet his greatest—and prickliest—challenge yet. And he'll need more than charm to disarm this stunning nurse….

Sandra Foster studies fads and their meanings for the HiTek corporation. Bennett O'Reilly works with monkey group behavior and chaos theory for the same company. When the two are thrust together due to a misdelivered package and a run of seemingly bad luck, they find a joint project in a flock of sheep. But a series of setbacks and disappointments arise before they are able to find answers to their questions - with the unintended help of the errant, forgetful, and careless office assistant Flip.

    "Smart and Funny"
    Overall

Bellwether is an amusing book that is smart and informative and talkes about fads in business and life and how they effect us. It also shows how fads cause chaos or are a result of chaos. You will see many of the stupid fads she talks about at my workplace and other businesses today. I listened to this book almost the whole time with a smile on my face. As for Flip, I seem to run into a version of her all of the time. I gave this book 4 stars and the reader 5 stars. I love the reader's sophisticated snarkiness.

In The Laughing Corpse, a creature from beyond the grave is tearing a swath of murder through St. Louis. And Anita will learn that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better off dead.

Lisa says: "Love the book, but hate the Sound Effects!"
"Getting to know the new reader"
    Overall

I started listening to the Anita Blake Series at book 9. I loved reader Cynthia Hollowy. She added a snarkiness and a little whinniness that gave her readings of Anita a lot of character. I give her readings 4 stars. Kimberly Alexis is a good reader but she is missing the extra bit that makes Anita real and spunky. She just sounds too strong. I give her readins 3 stars. I do really like the extra sound effects that have been added to the new books.

  • Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Kathleen says: "It's not easy being green"
    "Not what I expected"
    Overall

I had seen Wicked in LA and just loved it. I had hoped the book would give me more in depth info on the romance and friendship what was in the play. It did not. It is very dry and a lot longer than it needed to be. The story in the play has very little to do with what is in the book. This book is great for someone who discusses politics, religion and faith, relationships between family, friends and lovers, and being different. It also discusses what is evil (depends on who’s point of view) or what makes someone evil. If you do not have the same expectations I had, then you might enjoy this book. This book would be a good one for a book club discussion group.
