Secrets, mistaken identities, surprise revelations, amnesia, locked rooms and locked asylums, and an unorthodox villain made this mystery thriller an instant success when it first appeared in 1860, and it has continued to enthrall ever since. From the hero's foreboding before his arrival at Limmeridge House to the nefarious plot concerning the beautiful Laura, the breathtaking tension of Collins's narrative created a new literary genre of suspense fiction, which profoundly shaped the course of English popular writing.

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

The story was okay but good grief the language was terrible. I believe there was about one page with over 10 F*** words on it. I am disappointed as I know that Vince Flynn has swearing in his books but there was so much in this one that it was just distracting. I will pick up the next one in the series but if there is as much swearing in the first few chapters as this one then I will have to give up reading Mr. Flynn's books, and that is just too bad because he tells a really good story.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

This is my third time reading this book. The one thing I truly believe is that I love this book because I listened to it first. The audio version is dramatized and has four narrators and they bring the characters alive.

This book for me is about unlikely friendships, the power of one person, and the courage it takes to do something that scares you.

I laugh in this book, I mean laugh out loud. And I cry, every time I read this I cry.

I look forward to my next reading (or should I say listen).

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Brandon Sanderson knows how to weave a story and how to develop characters. I loved that his characters where flawed, I love that they learned valuable lesons along the way. And I loved the Mistborn series.

I laughed out loud, I cried, and I shook my fist at the ceiling in frustration. I also yelled out loud for joy.

It has been a long time since I have read a book that has made me that passionate.

I would highly recommend this series. The best part is, I didn't guess the ending. I had no idea how Mr. Sanderson was going to wrap it all up but he did, and he did it well.

I was surprised to find myself a little annoyed with his voice by the end of the book.

Budo is lucky as imaginary friends go. He's been alive for more than five years, which is positively ancient in the world of imaginary friends. But Budo feels his age, and thinks constantly of the day when eight-year-old Max Delaney will stop believing in him. When that happens, Budo will disappear. Max is different from other children. Some people say that he has Asperger’s Syndrome, but most just say he’s "on the spectrum". None of this matters to Budo, who loves Max and is charged with protecting him from the class bully, from awkward situations in the cafeteria, and even in the bathroom stalls. But he can’t protect Max from everyone.

    Story

I was intrigued by the premise of this book, a book written by an imaginary friend. So, I picked it up to give it a shot. In the first couple of chapters I had already shed a few tears, the story was sweet and poignant.

As the story went on I couldn't help but fall in love with little Max and his way of dealing with and seeing the world. Max is a special needs kid, and though they never come out and say it based on how he was described I would say he is Autistic. But Max has this great imaginary friend who is always there for him through thick and thin.

The story was good, great pace, good writing, and good feeling to the whole story line. More tears were shed by me before the book was over but I also found myself jumping off my couch and punching the air in triumph for the characters in the book. This is a book worth listening to.

Warning: The F bomb is dropped about 20 times throughout the whole book, and there are a few times the adults in the book take the Lords name in vain. Just giving those who care about this a heads up. I would have given the book 5 stars had the language not been in it.
