  • The Witness

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Nora Roberts
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

    M. Davis says: "Classic Nora - Outstanding!!!!"
"The Witness will not need witness protection"
What made the experience of listening to The Witness the most enjoyable?

A strong woman and a strong man

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, I figured the Chief would blow it in the beginning but his understanding was outstanding.

    Any additional comments?

Definitely felt an affinity to the TV show BONES. I would laugh outloud many times. Best Nora Roberts books to date.

  • The Cuckoo's Calling

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Robert Galbraith
    • Narrated By Robert Glenister

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

Tracey says: "Unbelievable debut mystery set in London"
    "A disappointment"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The plot of this book is pretty good and leads you to believe there will be more. But the continual use of profanity really turned me off. Younger readers will want to read this because of Harry Potter and they will be exposed to over usage of profanity.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Galbraith? Why or why not?

I am on the fence on any more like this one.

What about Robert Glenister’s performance did you like?

    Pretty good.

Did The Cuckoo's Calling inspire you to do anything?

    Close the book.

  • Bluegrass State of Mind: Bluegrass, Book 1

McKenna Mason, a New York City attorney with a love of all things Prada, is on the run from a group of powerful, dangerous men. McKenna turns to a teenage crush, Will Ashton, for help in starting a new life in beautiful horse country. She finds that Will is now a handsome, successful race horse farm owner. Can Will and McKenna cross the finish line together, and more importantly, alive?

Ginny LaMere says: "OMG FANTASTIC book"
    "Fun Read!!!"
Where does Bluegrass State of Mind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Right in the middle.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was so much fun to listen to. I had to disregard the inaccuracies regarding horses, such as a horse in a sale that was sired by the winner of the Kentucky Derby the year before. With the winner of the Derby in May...the foal would not be born before this sale unless he was used at stud prior to being raced. The breeding of Naked Boot Leg and Desert Girl would make a foal that would be a minimum of 6 months behind most of the foals born that next year and that is undesireable.
