"Something here really stinks to high heaven," writes Erich von Däniken. "In Twilight of the Gods," says von Däniken, "I document precisely what it was that left the first visitors breathless as they stood before the mighty stone blocks some 400 years ago. I will show you what archeologists discovered hundreds of years ago and demonstrate how much has been destroyed over the centuries. Intentionally.

If you're familiar with history and cultures around the world, this is definitely a very good read. It gives you a different point of view on how to see the world. It might be a little much for some people, but it's up to the reader on how to interpret it. Either way it's still a wonderful research and collection of stories.

They were very honest with their opinions. The book is filled with substance, just enough examples and reasons, no fillers. If you read a lot of startup-related books then this might not be for you, most of it you'll already have known. But, if you're curious about 37 Signals and how small start-ups work, grab this book.

  • Practical Wisdom: The Right Way to Do the Right Thing

Most of us want to succeed. And most of us want to do the right thing. But we often forget that the way tosucceed is by doing the right thing, as Barry Schwartz and Kenneth Sharpe remind us in Practical Wisdom: The Right Way to Do the Right Thing. When the institutions that shape our society need to change, the people in them typically either make more rules or offer smarter incentives.

This was a great book. I think everyone should read this. Society has been deteriorating because of lack of practical wisdom. I've noticed it myself, pretty much everyday, people relying on rules and regulations instead of their brains and what they know is right. There should be classes in school teaching practical wisdom.

It's about an hour long. I'm sure not that much is known about Leonardo, that's why this book is very short. I found it to be a really good primer, it gave me a glimpse of how Da Vinci's personality might have been and how he is as a person.

  • A Concise History of the Middle East, Ninth Edition

The ninth edition of this widely acclaimed text has been extensively revised to reflect the latest scholarship and the most recent events in the Middle East. As an introduction to the history of this turbulent region from the beginnings of Islam to the present day, the book is distinguished by its clear style, broad scope, and balanced treatment.

I felt that a good deal of the book was the author saying which chapter more details are located. For example "I will talk more about this or that on this chapter" and "as you may recall in chapter bla bla bla". There was so much of this going on that I had to stop listening to it.

I finally did manage to get myself to finish the book. It's a good primer for middle east history, which is what I was looking for. However, I would like it told more as a fluid story, not like a text book telling you to turn in this or that chapter.
