"Well done, well spoken"
I am also aspiring to complete an Ironman, in 2013, and I'm also a 'late bloomer' and a weekend warrior! Still... wasn't sure what to expect with these stories. Once started...couldn't stop listening. Excellent job by the narrator and compelling stories all around. As stated, not a training manual but clearly some tidbits are in there about training, mind control and racing strategies - to add to our own plans. Clearly worth the listen!
"Well done. Fair and balanced."
Too many books these days waiver from facts and reality due to personal and/or political reasons - this one does not. Mr Reich stays with the facts and properly places history in perspective. The times of today are not exactly like economic history, and those that hang on to those 'old' economic beliefs will be left behind. This informative book was a quick 'read' and I'll likely give it another listen.
"An American success story warts and all"
Yes, very detailed and certainly some parts (the NBA section for me) were a bit too much detail but...'growing up' with ESPN since it's inception (watching on TVs at college!) it brought back memories and thoughts about this 'wild idea' that took hold all those years ago.
It might have been nice to have different voices for the different 'characters' but it didn't detract too much from the experience.
Highly recommended for any fan of sports and/or for folks wanting to study business trials and tribulations of making an idea into a reality and then a dominant force.
