  • I'm Not High

With his goofy smile, sleepy eyes, and stoner's laugh, Jim Breuer might not appear to be the most introspective comedian out there. The fact that Jim Breuer made his mark playing Goat Boy on Saturday Night Live and a recalcitrant toker in the stoner classic Half Baked doesn't help his reputation at all. But in I'm Not High, we meet a whole new Jim Breuer.

Listening to Bruer impersonate Dave Chapelle and Tracy Morgan was worth the price alone, but the performance of this book is also great. Jim Bruer is a decent man, a great stand-up and a wonderful storyteller. Two thumbs up.

Official Book Club Selection is Kathy Griffin unplugged, uncensored, and unafraid to dish about what really happens on the road, away from the cameras, and at the star party after the show. (It's also her big chance to score that coveted book club endorsement she's always wanted. Are you there, Oprah? It's me, Kathy.)

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

I wanted to hear what all the fuss was about, but after 7+ hours I'm afraid I can't take it any more. This book/audiobook is incredibly long, cheesy and boring (believe it or not). The writing is terrible, the performance was dull. The storyline seems as though it was both written and performed by a high schooler.

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Lisa says: "If you like Mindy, you'll enjoy this listen."

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would and have recommended this book to my friends. Its a very easy, adorable listen that gives a little insight into the less glamorous life of a female comedy writer in LA. Mindy's personality shines in this book - it feels like a friendly conversation at times. I very much enjoyed it.
