Yes, it is a compelling story for a lifestyle many can only try to understand. The humanity of people comes through no mater what the lifestyle or religious belief is. In a time when most of people are striving for more, stuff, things and excitement this simple lifestyle mixed with murder and mystery can be complicated to comprehend. The narrator really brings the story to life. The relaxed tone and intonation of the voice made this a great listen,
Simple life is not so simple?
I will continue to read the series. It's nice to read a complex story with out all the muck and foul language. This is a book with a murder mystery but also good values. It's a nice change to all the bang bang shoot em up stories.
I don't know I could not make it past chapter 7
Given it more hope or if there is something positive or some type of hope at the end it should give a glimmer it will come before one becomes so depressed they can't finish the story.
Sadness, disappointment and depression. I really mean depression. I felt so bad I could not finish the book I listened to 7 of 10 chapters hoping to get to a point where there was something to celebrate or to give hope to a happier ending but it was just so sad all the way through.
The way the author deviled right in and got into the real way people are. How we all behave unless we have checks and balances. How at times even the best of us forget to be compassionate but that we can always find our way back.
There were so many great moments in the story. Perhaps it's when Charlie went back to the classroom just before the end.
With the story being so sad I don't think I could have read the book, I may not have been able to listen to the book if there wasn't such warmth in the voices Jeff gave each of the actors.
It made me cry. We all have had good and bad experiences but unless there is a fatal illness we don't watch our-self fall quite the way Charlie does.
Worth the listen but not if you are in a down mood. There are times it is so sad it can be hard to keep one's self up.
All the charters are well developed and felt necessary to the story. There is enough true history to give one a desire to believe in the story. Oh and the narrator! Davina Porter has a beautiful voice and has enough diversity to give voice to each of the different charters.
Clair and Jamie's wedding night was quite memorable. In fact there are many well placed romantic and very sexy sections in the book and all seem like they should be there for the story to be full and well rounded. I don't always feel sex scenes in books and movies belong that sometimes they are just there for sex appeal and not to further develop a charter or story. Here, as in the entire series, all are necessary and well written!
I am sure I have but this series is my favorite with her as the narrator. What a talent she has. The narrator is as important to a good digital book as the story it's self. There are some voices I love to listen to and Davina Porter's is certainly one of them!
There are so many moments in the book I cannot choose one to stand out over the others. All I can say is I am quite glad I have the books both physical and digitally because I am sure I will read and listen to them many times. In fact I am in need of a new paper set of the series now.
I am glad to see the movie come out. I have seen the first pilot/episode and feel the books have been justly represented. I suppose I may have to purchase those too.
I liked the charters and the way they interact with each other. The story was fun and each book kept me interested
Time Travelers Wife
The main character of course
yes but I never have the time for that
I purchased the rest of the series after listening to the first book.
David Baldacci is always a good read in my opinion. The story was engaging and held my interests all the way to the end, There was no guessing the ending as there are many twists and turns through the story.
I read all 3 in this series. Each book builds on the next and the story gets better. It doesn't take long to get through each book. Mixing native american folk lore into a newer timeline story was interesting. I would read more from this author.
Rachel Hauck is a new author to me. I found the story good and interesting. Not knowing the author I was surprised with how much if felt like I was at church while listening.
Looking for a quick easy listen... this is it. I can totally understand how Honey felt, wanting to get back at one of those telemarketers, especially since she felt personally insulted.
Just when I thought I had it figured out, I didn't. That's OK as I love it when the plot has twists and turns, enough that it takes a bit to figure it out. A great read. But be careful you may not be able to put it down until you have read the entire book.
This book was funny most of all. A little predictable at times but that is what made it so good. It is a story filled with warmth and made me think about naming one of my future pets Christmas just because of this story. I liked that is was not sappy but hit all the feel good things one likes in a short listen. I will listen to this again.
