When I first saw this book, being a Southerner and reading Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt, I knew I had to have it … and it didn’t disappoint. Teddi Overman is one of those characters that we all love. She is a typical Southern girl who is independent, strong, and at the same time vulnerable. Her family dynamics are similar to what we all go through in one way or the other. Beth Hoffman has created a story that is captivating and charms the reader, while keeping the reading wanting more. It was one of those rare books that when I finished it I had a satisfied smile on my face and satisfaction in my heart.
I really enjoyed the storyline however, the narrator was way too dramatic and the pitiful voice is awful. She made the women sound very weak always breaking down over every little thing. Other than the drama queen voice I thought it was great and I'm anxious to read book two.
I find these books to be an entertaining read. Even though the books go on for quite a bit, the author has managed unique twists and turns. I will say that I seem to have noticed more grammatical and spelling errors in this book than the others, but can overlook that for a good read.
Am thoroughly enjoying this series. I'm ready to start on the 5th book and am tired of them yet. They are definitely worth the read. Lots of action, plot and just good! I would definitely recommend these books.
These books just get better and better. I am thoroughly enjoying reading about Thorgrin, Gwendolen, Reese and all the others. What a great read. Worth every penny!
The Best of Me is one of those books that almost anyone would enjoy. It reminds us of lost youth, lost love and our life in general. The book takes the love of two teens who are separated by circumstances and shows what happens when they meet many years later and with so many hard life experiences behind both of them. It makes us look within to see where we are in life, our regrets and shows how very short and unexpected life can be. Nicholas Sparks is a master at writing about love and life and this book is thoroughly enjoyable. It’s not one of his best books, but well worth the read. And when reading, especially the last third of the book, be sure and have tissues handy. They will definitely be needed.
This is the second in the Sorcery Ascendant series and I found it to be a really good read. The book had plenty of action and kept the reader’s attention throughout. Never knew what was going to come next and it definitely kept my attention. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.
I have not read this author before; however, after this book, I don’t think it will be my last for him. Good read, fast, action-packed. Already have second book in the series!
What an unusual book. After I first started the book I didn’t think I was really going to like it … I thought there’s just too much on elephants in this story and blah, blah, blah. But shortly thereafter I realized that the book was really well written, interesting and had grabbed my attention. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Then near the end, it was just WOW! I was stunned by the big reveal in the plot. Jodi Picoult must have done an immense amount of research into elephants and is very descriptive in the lives, grieving and way that elephants live. But at the same time, she interwove it with her three main characters, Jenna, the psychic and the detective, along with Jenna’s parents and the elephant preserve. Yes, it’s emotional, but at the same time entertaining and definitely well worth the read.
What a great read during Veteran's Day. This book will make you think about what our men and women face every day. I'm so thankful that I live in a country that has such courageous people in its Armed Forces. The author was able to capture the feelings and the setting of Shangri-la and make the reader feel that they were actually there. Enjoyed it.
What a sweet read. Yes, we know when Debbie Macomber writes a book that we are going to get a solid, good read and this book met the mark. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it while on a trip. This was one of those stories where you knew what was going to happen, but it is the season to be joyful and this book kept you in that mood. Good job!
