Iris Johansen does it again. After finding Bonnie, I wondered where she was going to go with Eve and Joe and didn’t see how she could make it interesting. But she absolutely wrote another great thriller. I would definitely recommend this book. It was interesting, well written and kept the reader wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed meeting new characters as well as having some of her previous ones’ lives expanded. Can’t wait for her next book.
What a great read. This book told of the love between David and Michal and their life, from the time they were children. The book was told from Michal's point of view. It told of the many hardships they both had to face, how it affected their marriage and the dynamics of their lives along with David's other wives and concubines. No, this book is not full of biblical facts, but rather it helps us to wonder what life was like, how their lives affect us today and more importantly, how thankful we should be that we live in today's world. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. For a good, entertaining read that will leave you thinking, this is the one for you.
What an unusual book. Alice Hoffman has a unique writing style. I read the Dovekeepers and this book and at the conclusion felt the same way. Good book but very unusual. This book wasn’t as good as the Dovekeepers, but it was unique and good in its own way. The characters were unusual and the plot was bazaar with twists and turns every step of the way. It was one of those books that I just kept reading, yet didn’t feel a sense of satisfaction when it was completed. Maybe that was because of the sadness and pain of the majority of the characters. Definitely different, but worth the read.
This book was a good conclusion to the series. Alison Pensy definitely wrote an entertaining series that will keep most readers entertained. Having bought the audible and Kindle books and used Whispersync, I found the narrator hard to listen to, but by the end of the series she had gotten better. Each book in the seriesgot better and better.
The series seems to get a little better with each book. This one was definitely better than the first and second books. The twists and turns of the story kept the reader's attention and made me look forward to what was happening next in the book. This book is age appropriate for any age group yet still has a good story line. Kudos to Ms. Pensy for a great read.
This book was much more enjoyable than the first book. I finally got used to the narrator (not the best in the world) and was able to concentrate on the book. Entertaining, unusual and a quick read. Average fantasy read.
I have to say that this book was a little different from your normal female heroine book. It was an interesting read; however, I had the audible book as well and went back and forth between the two which I always enjoy doing. The narrator in the audible book took a lot for me to get used to. At first it was like running your nails down a chalkboard ... really made it hard to listen to the book. So be careful if you get the audible book. On the other hand, the book was entertaining just not a really good book. Just ok.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This was my first time reading Tessa Afshar but it definitely won't be my last., The way that she was able to bring historical and Biblical facts to the book made it intriguing, interesting and a really sweet story. Knowing the story of Ruth and Boaz, I am very impressed with Ms. Afshar's ability to keep the reader's interest and still stay true to the Bible. Loved it. It is absolutely worth the read. Definitely recommend it.
This book was better than the first book although it was soooo unrealistic. For pure fantasy, it was ok. I found myself listening to it throughout my day. There were large portions that seemed to drag and others that just didn't fit in, and then interesting in other parts. I think that it was much too long for the story. On a scale of 1 to 10, I can only give the books a 5 ... nothing exceptional and not something that I would highly recommend.
What an unusual book. Normally a book isn’t written from the first person, but this one was and that made it unique. In addition, the story-line is interesting, just not dynamic nor does the reader find themselves on the edge of their chair wanting to find out what comes next. But at the same time it is a good book, interesting and worth the read.
When the book started out I was really disappointed in the lead female character. Although I thoroughly disliked her throughout most of the book, I began to have empathy for her and to understand the things she was going through. The characters seemed to be weak and simply allowed life to happen. The book did have a major twist at the end that made it somewhat interesting, but I really couldn't recommend the book.
