At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

What an awesome book. This book really made me look at my life and wonder if I could be as strong a person as Corrie was … and this is not a fiction account of a life. It is a real life. Corrie and her entire family faced the absolutely worst that a family could face and they came out winners for His kingdom. This book portrays Corrie and her family as real people, faults and all, and tells how they overcame. It clearly demonstrates and tells of God’s holding us in the very palm of His hand and how He gives us His strength when it’s needed. The author of this book made this Dutch family step out of its pages and step right into our hearts.

Even if you have read this book in the past, it is always worth reading again. That’s one of the biggest compliments I can give a book because I rarely read a book more than once and this one has met that mark. Thanks to the authors for this magnificent read.

This is the second in the Sorcery Ascendant series and I found it to be a really good read. The book had plenty of action and kept the reader’s attention throughout. Never knew what was going to come next and it definitely kept my attention. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.

Refusing to believe that she would be abandoned as a young child, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice's old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts. Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest.

What an unusual book. After I first started the book I didn’t think I was really going to like it … I thought there’s just too much on elephants in this story and blah, blah, blah. But shortly thereafter I realized that the book was really well written, interesting and had grabbed my attention. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Then near the end, it was just WOW! I was stunned by the big reveal in the plot. Jodi Picoult must have done an immense amount of research into elephants and is very descriptive in the lives, grieving and way that elephants live. But at the same time, she interwove it with her three main characters, Jenna, the psychic and the detective, along with Jenna’s parents and the elephant preserve. Yes, it’s emotional, but at the same time entertaining and definitely well worth the read.

On May 13, 1945, 24 American servicemen and WACs boarded a transport plane for a sightseeing trip over “Shangri-La,” a beautiful and mysterious valley deep within the jungle-covered mountains of Dutch New Guinea. Unlike the peaceful Tibetan monks of James Hilton’s best-selling novel Lost Horizon, this Shangri-La was home to spear-carrying tribesmen, warriors rumored to be cannibals. But the pleasure tour became an unforgettable battle for survival when the plane crashed. Miraculously, three passengers pulled through.

What a great read during Veteran's Day. This book will make you think about what our men and women face every day. I'm so thankful that I live in a country that has such courageous people in its Armed Forces. The author was able to capture the feelings and the setting of Shangri-la and make the reader feel that they were actually there. Enjoyed it.

I always enjoy spending time with Sam and Remi Fargo, and this book was no exception. Although it wasn’t as good as previous books, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Clive Cussler has a unique ability to write with other authors and still make the books seem like they are totally his. If you need a quick, entertaining read, then grab this book, a cup of coffee or tea, and sit down for a spell. You will be thoroughly entertained and satisfied at the end.

I absolutely loved this series. I hate to see it end. Yes, the series if LONG, but it is well worth every minute. One of the best series I have read in a while. Michael Sullivan did a great job in making his characters real and believable, even though you know they are pure fantasy. I don’t give too many 5 star ratings, but this series deserved them.
