Spur Award-winner Craig Johnson has garnered critical acclaim for his Walt Longmire mysteries. In this riveting seventh entry, Wyoming’s Absaroka County sheriff, Walt Longmire, is pushed beyond his limits. When three hardened convicts escape FBI custody in a mountain blizzard, an armed psychopath leads them up Big Horn Mountain. As Longmire struggles to track their treacherous ascent, he’ll need all the help he can get from the tribal spirits of the towering summit.

If this is your first Craig OR George you are in for a treat because it only gets better. Put them all on your wish list. If I say this wasn't my favorite Walt book it is only because the others were so good. For aficianados, this one has less of the familiar characters but I undestand it... Sort of a paean to Hemingway maybe? Totally stands on its own but leaves me breathless for the next full-bodied Walt. Heck...just read what I said and put back the 5th star. Craign is filling the hole Robert B. Parker left in my life. ALMOST...RBP RIP....

A bunch of good authors (among them a few of my favorites) having fun and entertaining themselves. Alfred Molina did a great job with it. It was not more than "ok" though because it was just too obvious what was going on.

Terror reigns over the North Florida National Forest, the coastal town of Bayshore, and the barrier island of Pine Key - a fiery terror whose flame threatens to consume the whole world. An exacting and methodical killer whose weapon is fire is working on his masterpiece, and only a wounded and scarred FDLE agent and a retired ritual crimes expert hiding from the world in a cabin in the woods have any hope of stopping him. Rich and textured, yet fast-paced and pulse-pounding, this book will leave you breathless.

Dear God: Please let this man write another book soon and please let me be here to listen to it. I can't say something like 'even his worst book is good' because I can't think of anything he's done that is worse than anything else.

Before I post this list I have to say that Sandford, Parker and MacDonald are EXTRA special. And Richard Ferrone as John Sandford's voice is an amazing match. Like George Guidall with Craig Johnson and pretty much anything George reads.

Robert B. Parker lived in this space for me as did John D. MacDonald. Currently, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, John Hart, Craig Johnson, John Lescroart, William Kent Krueger Ridley Pearson ,and Jonathan Kellerman. Some others are really good but these guys have something special. If you are into mystery-thrillers I just gave you a back catalog I wish I could have...but I HAVE had it and it is an incredible treasure. I stopped going to libraries and swap places just so I can encourage these guys by sending them money. Please enjoy.
P.S. Adding Brian Freeman and Michael Lister

It was the deal of the decade, if not the century. A small, insignificant company on the edge of bankruptcy had discovered an alchemist's dream; a miraculous polymer, that when coated on any vehicle, was the equivalent of 30 inches of steel. With bloody conflicts surging in Iraq and Afghanistan, the polymer promises to save thousands of lives and change the course of both wars.

I hereby declare that from now on I will read books narrated by Scott Brick on my Archos/Nook/Kindle or whatever. I just can't take it anymore. Even descriptions of restaurants and offices must be fraught with emotion. In addition, this story was a disappointment after the previous book I had of Haig's. Lots of stock characters. Many elements just stretch the imagination too much. That said, it was an interesting plot. I think I'd have given it 4 stars if it was read by Guidall and I did the abridged version.

John March is a former cop now working as a P.I. in Manhattan. Haunted by his past, work is what keeps him sane, but his current case threatens to have the opposite effect. It involves an attempted extortion; an investment banker with some serious skeletons in his closet; and a money launderer diabolically adept at both psychological and physical intimidation.

    "Great first effort"

Others hypercritical comments don't have much to do with the fact that this is a book you'll not regret getting. I hope the next book by this author will be out soon.
