This riveting memoir is the incredible story of Jeff Henderson's rollercoaster ride from high-stakes cocaine dealer, to prison inmate, to world-class chef. When he was 23, he was indicted on federal drug trafficking charges and sentenced to almost 20 years. One day, he was assigned to wash dishes in the prison kitchen, and he immediately took an interest in food preparation and eventually determined that when he was released, he would become a chef, no matter what.

I just loved Mr. Henderson's climb from the streets to the stove. His tenacity and proceed till apprehended attitude is awesome. This proves with goals and drive someone's life can be turned around. I think having a mentor and support from one's family & friends can help as well. Maybe one day I will have a meal prepared by Mr. Henderson.

In the India of the mid-1970s, Indira Gandhi's government has just come to power. It institutionalizes corruption and arbitrary force, most oppressive to the poorest and weakest people under its sway. Against this backdrop, in an unnamed city by the sea, four people struggle to survive. Dina, Maneck, and two tailors, the Untouchables Om and Ishvar, who are sewing in Dina's service, undergo a series of reversals.

I found this book hard to put down. It is a dark story and seems like there is no happiness or very little in this book. It is raw and dangerous-not for everybody. Beggars, people who are dirt poor, and evil people in authority; that is who you will meet in this book. BUT there are people who try to rise above their circumstances and are beaten down. I liked reading it but it was disturbing.

In 1976, a mysterious "Inner Voice" spoke to Helen Schucman, dictating what would come to be known as A Course in Miracles - a spiritual classic that would go on to sell over two million copies and influence countless people worldwide. Those who study this 1,333-page course can struggle for years to progress through its resonant but often difficult-to-comprehend truths.

Based on over 25 years of spirit communication and thousands of professional readings, world-famous medium James Van Praagh shares the personal regrets, misgivings, remorse, and, most important, the advice of the dead who have chosen him as a medium. These spirits have a great deal to say about what they have learned and discovered on the other side and how we, the living, can benefit from their experiences.

It was Ok as far as the topic goes. My take away: there's more love on the other side. Meditate while your spirit is still inside your body. Some people go to readings who are skeptics. No surprises here. Van Praagh did a good job of reading-nice voice.

From the moment she's struck by lightening as a baby, it is clear that Mary Anning is marked for greatness. On the windswept, fossil-strewn beaches of the English coast, she learns that she has "the eye"-and finds what no one else can see. When Mary uncovers an unusual fossilized skeleton in the cliffs near her home, she sets the religious fathers on edge, the townspeople to vicious gossip, and the scientific world alight.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

My co-worker recommended this read to me. I was captivated from beginning to end. It is full of adventure and has a strong female character named Katniss. I will be looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out March 23, 2012. Jennifer Lawrence looks like she will be a perfect Katniss-she is just as I imagined her. Woody Harrelson will play Haymitch-not sure how he will play drunk.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

This story; set in the South during the 1960's is worth every minute it takes to listen. It has everything-story, emotions, political climate during that time. The reader is also pleasant to hear.

It's a sad and eerie harbinger of our times that the Oprah-watching, crystal-rubbing, Whole Foods-shopping moms and their whipped attorney husbands have taken the ability to reason away from the poor schlub who makes the Bloody Marys. What we used to settle with common sense or a fist, we now settle with hand sanitizer and lawyers. Adam Carolla has had enough of this insanity and he's here to help us get our collective balls back.

I discovered Adam on his podcast. Bought the audiobook and was not disappointed. Adam is funny, passionate, opinionated, and has heart most of the time. He put his dog Molly; to sleep because the dog was being a dog.
Hope he gives his kids a little more justice. Adam, you could have made a better choice on the dog.
Buy the book people-you won't be disappointed.
