At first, the case of the bodies found in a Moscow park looked straightforward: a "troika", probably three on a bottle, drunk together and then frozen to death together in the brutal Russian night. But Chief Homicide Investigator Arkady Renko hits a sharp and complicated turn with the arrival of the KGB's Pribluda. Suddenly, his access to a routine investigation is blocked. Why?

I really enjoyed this book! Strozier did a nice job narrating the book. He was good at portraying the voices of the male characters, but not so much with the voices of the female characters. However, his overall performance was good. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

For Precious Jones, 16 and pregnant with her father's child, miraculous hope appears and the world begins to open up for her when a courageous, determined teacher bullies, cajoles, and inspires her to learn to read, to define her own feelings and set them down in a diary.

I know I'm probably not in the majority on this review but I just didn't like this book. The way she talks just gets annoying after a while. You'd think that as she starts to learn correct English and grammar and whatnot that she'd begin to speak correctly -- or at least somewhat correctly, but she doesn't and it kind of gets annoying. I mean I felt sorry for the girl and I was glad that she found a way out of her situation but some of the content was just vulgar and overall gross.

New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.

I saw the movie first, and I liked it. Cried pretty much the entire time... Then I decided to read the book. I was ify because I had seen the book but it ended up it didn't matter because the book is 1000X better and the movie isn't even the same as the book. I hate it when they do that. If you're going to make a movie from a book then you should make the movie like the book! ANYWAY-- READ IT! ITS WONDERFUL... SOO SAD.

The novella begins with a young man, Candide, who is living a sheltered life in an Edenic paradise and being indoctrinated with Leibnizian optimism (or simply optimism) by his tutor, Pangloss. The work describes the abrupt cessation of this existence, followed by Candide's slow, painful disillusionment as he witnesses and experiences great hardships in the world.
