So I needed a quick book for a trip I had coming up. This was on my recommend page, and being a 'hero' fan I read the description. 'Super Heroes... blah blah blah... Zombie Apocalypse... blah blah...' I finished reading the summary and thought this book sounded dumb... very dumb. But I listened to the preview and was very impressed by the both the readers, and thought that its a small price for a couple of hours, besides the reviews were high. While the story plot is over the top cliche, which is even mentioned by the characters in the book, but this only helps drive the story. The character development and interaction makes this book totally worth it. You find yourself laughing, and rooting for the characters every step of the way. Clines does a great job of just plopping you into the story with no real idea whats going on, and letting it unfold around you with the 'Then' and 'Now' chapters. Its worth the listen if you are any type of comic book hero fan.

Michael Kramer, in my opinion, can make any story sound epic. His reading of the Wheel of Time books got me hooked on his deep soothing voice. Coming back to read the 4th book in the Mistborn series is just what I needed to get out of my 'bad audio book slump' I had after listening to a couple disappointing books. Brandon Sanderson always has fun stories, and while it is nothing compelling, it is defiantly entertaining. Put in a setting that is believable for his universe, this story, while feeling a bit pushed at times to help move the plot along, is still a fun read. While, maybe it was the time in between listening to the last book of the Trilogy plot line previous, I felt like he changed some rules to the universe which I always find annoying, I found myself not caring as the book progressed, just enjoying the playful book setting.

No less than 30 min into the book I was hooked. Everything you know about history is tweaked and built upon just enough to make this book believable and compelling. Going in you knew you would root for Abraham, but you are in no way ready to realize how much you would be rooting for him every step of the way. This book takes the truth, and fills in the small gaps with the plot line. It all makes sense, and is in no way feels forced. I got chills in places thinking how true this sounds, and if I believed that Vampires existed I would never sleep again.

This sequel is great. Throughout the book they even point out how cliche this plot line is, but that doesn't matter; the character interaction, the witty build up of jokes, and the just freaky nature of ex's, compel you to listen to more. By the end you are rooting for the heroes and drooling for more, hoping Clines makes this into a Trilogy, if not more. The separation of readers, while in most books breaks up the flow, in this book, really helps drive the character development, and I applaud the talent for being able to do so. If you like comic book heroes, buy this, and the first book and take a listen, you wont be disappointed.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in what was dreamed for America. Ron Paul does a great job separating each of the 50 topics out into sections: What the freedom is, how this effects you, how the government invades your freedom and his feelings on the topic. He separates his moral and religious beliefs out, and keeps it out until it is his section of personal feelings on the matter. This gives you plenty of time to develop your own opinions and thoughts on the topic before hearing his. Bob Craig, does a good job of never feeling invading, or pushing Ron Paul's feelings on the matter on to you, but instead, making it feel like a good friend sharing his feelings on matters. You can tell, as the footnotes show, that the research on the matter is vast, and pulls from many materials to not only bring you the topic, but on his personal feelings as well.

Bob Craig can drone on, and sometimes feels a bit edited in places, but this does not take away from his soothing voice, and the flow he puts to the words, when he is allowed to read freely. Its a great combo of reader to message.

Luke Daniels does a great job putting soul and depth behind each person's dialog, giving you a true sense of listening to real people and different people throughout the book. The story, while predictable, is still fun, witty, and a laugh. The mixture of witty remarks, and timing of Luke, make Kevin Hearne's Chronicles a must listen for anyone who is even a slight nerd of the fantasy genre. As said in the book, "Monty Python quotes will... make them loose their nuts.."

The witty remarks by the wolf hound to help break the book up from its serious nature, which is a constant theme in the book. Even while reading it, the main character doesn't even take himself serious, which makes this all the funnier, and easier to read.

Its worth the listen if you are a fan of anything slightly nerdy. Its fun and quick, and will make you laugh out loud in many places. You find yourself rooting for the heroes, even though the villains are not well rounded, and more mellow dramatic than anything. But an hour in, I had already bought the rest of the released series.
