Sal Khan is one of the big thinkers of the century. But he just stumbled across his big ideas while helping out a family member. His Khan Academy is often thought to be anti-teacher and anti-school, but it is not. It would be interesting to learn more about the application of his ideas to younger children and to topics other than science and math. Read this book if you care about the future of public education.
As with most long running series, the characters get to be a bit old. I think Dr. Delaware should think about retirement. But if you are a big fan of the series, or the sub-genre, you will probably enjoy this book well enough.
I had not read this book before, but I am glad I gave it a try. This is a great introduction to this author and a quite enjoyable read!
This is a great book for anyone struggling with or trying to understand ADD. However, the long numbered lists embedded within other lists made me think I had ADD. Otherwise, it is full of useful information and a great introduction to the topic.
I will be more careful next time. I read it to the end, thinking that surely it would get better, but it did not. I will not read another book in this series.
I heard the author speak at a conference and was not expecting to learn much more from reading the book. However, this is much more than a self help, power of positive thinking type book. He gives research based reasons for his suggestions on how to make specific changes that can help you succeed and be happier.
This is an amazing book. I laughed and I cried. Although aimed at teens, I would recommend this book for anyone. He gives a true picture of the life of modern day Native Americans living on reservations.
