"A Truly Great Issue!"
In our age of superlatives, it's hard to find words of praise that haven't been over-used. That's unfortunate because this issue is NOT TO BE MISSED! Jeffrey Toobin's intimate knowledge of the behind the scenes inner workings of the Supreme Court provides keen insight into the fundamental shift to the right and the quiet power being exerted by one of the least vocal of the justices, Clarence Thomas. Our Supreme Court is where the action is when our fundamental rights are under attack by our government! Their decisions affect our daily lives more than any other force! This article alone makes this issue a must read. but then there is the article by Wendell Steavenson on the view from inside the Syrian crackdown. How long can unarmed protestors survive against tanks, machine guns and a regime that will stop at nothing to stay in power? While the articles may seem to have little to do with one another, the contrast is one of degree, not kind. The struggle for freedom and equality never ends. Equal protection is not a catch-phrase, it's the essence of restraint against the rich and powerful who never seem to get enough!
"Excellent content, great narration!"
Jeffrey Toobin's articles are usually quite good; this one was outstanding. Toobin's in-depth knowledge of constitutional law and the Supreme Court are on display in this artilce, in which he shows the political activism of the current Court lead by John Roberts. This Court is undoing decades of precedent upon which our society relies. We elect our politicians so that they will enact laws which achieve goals and objectives important to us. But this Court can and will change those IT doesn't like!
"Essential reading!"
The content is an excellent non-technical analysis of emerging technologies and companies leading the way for new products and services. The narrator, Todd Mundt, is my all time favorite with the right pacing and emphasis that is enjoyable to listen to. I get the magazine and the free app downloads, but they take too much time, so the audible digest is the best!
